What I haven’t done or prepped was to remove winter tires.
I had in calendar for April 1 and said, 1, I am not going anywhere, 2, why risk getting the bug while waiting for tires, from steering wheel... and 3, maybe the most important of all, I may want those very aggressive lugs if I do need to take a ditch, hop a curb....!

So they are staying on for now and we will worry about changing them if and when we get the all clear maybe this fall 😆 at which point, they may just stay on.

If yours are not off yet, you may wish to keep the more aggressive tires on in case needed

Not an issue in my neck of the woods since we just got another 15 cm of snow and the thermometer is showing -9C right now...

Oh you poor bugger. So glad the snows gone here. Heartfelt sympathies!

Although I don't really need it, I've increased my water reserves by 70% I may yet bump them another 30% just to be safe, we'll see.

Every Time I wander out, I pick up another large bag of Rice or Pasta (Shelf Stable Products) just to bulk up my existing stores. I'd rather have too much then not enough. Who knows, if this goes the 18 - 24 months that other Pandemics in history have then I'm sure I may need it.

Did another Bulk Barn run... but this time I used their on line order form. I just showed up at the door, gave them my name and they had my order waiting at the till for me to pay. I don't think I was in the store for more than 3 minutes.

Something that has always puzzled me and I would hate to have stupid stamped on my forehead for missing it. Besides the need to have water for a bug out scenario and even that for only so long as one is traveling to a safer and I would presume or calculate a place where water is abundant, why would a person on well, with a creek, pond, lake.... need to worry about storing water? There’s a nuclear event or some other nasties in the air possibility I guess.

Given the high level of preparedness you live by, what’s your concern? Signed potentially having missed something 😆

Alright, I’m sold... Even just convinced the boss at home to buy a vacuum sealer. Do you have a recommendation for brand and model? Is “whatever Costco has for device” good enough?

I bought the home grade one from cabelas, it sucked!, brought back and bought commercial grade one and after ten bags, the sealer needs a heat break. So fast use of it seems to tire it out a bit. I do prefer their bags over the average store bought bags and they have some wider ones for bigger pieces of meat or other stuff 👍🏻
They have the little hose adapter as well that makes it easier to partially seal a Mylar bag and then with the tube, suck out the last of the air.

Because Mylar bags are flat and smooth, they can be a challenge to get to suck out the air and simultaneously seal. There’s some decent tips on YouTube on how to overcome it.

Once I started, I started using it to seal socks and all manner of outdoor pack gear. Shrinks the volume and obviously keeps it dry. I used it for one of my car bags to help shrink down the size of contents and love it

HP, I have to defer to others with more experience as to what product is best to buy. Here is a picture of what I am using. It is not mine, I have borrowed it from a neighbour who bought it for when he butchers up game, I think he said the price was right around 100.00 from CT or Walmart , cant remember what place he said. I am using the cheap bags with it, 15 dollars for 32 feet. I suspect higher grade bags would be better but these are working for me.

Only thing I can recommend from using them is to double seal, as the picture below shows, where my fingers are. I have the packaging down to a art form now, I place the bag with the contents inside between two 1 foot x 1 foot ceramic tiles and press/ wiggle the tiles so the top and bottom of the bag are parallel, then I hit seal and the packaging comes out square in all dimensions and I can stack everything like pancakes.

After using one now, I can say I don't want to be without one so before hunting season this fall I will be getting my own.

Found a local supply of Comfrey Bocking 14 plants on Kijiji. They should be ready for pick up/transplant this week.

I had to go into the big city today. Ok, I didn't have to, but wanted to, wanted to go to Princess Auto. While in the city I hit another Bulk Barn for a few more items.

All packaged up.

First time I have been in the city in a month or more. I would guess 15- 20 % of the people were masked up, myself included. Again I was impressed, not a single item out of stock!
