We have taken additional steps in design, packaging, and energy use to reduce the environmental impact of the Keurig® brewing systems, including:

•Introducing nested packaging for our K-Cup® packs, which we estimate will reduce distribution-related greenhouse gas emissions by more than 20%, and decrease volume of packaging by 30%.
•Launching two pilot programs in our Away From Home channel that divert brewed K-Cup® packs from landfills.
•Offering the My K-Cup® product, a reusable filter assembly that can be refilled by the consumer. My K-Cup® is easily cleaned and compatible with all home K-Cup® brewing systems sold today.
•Piloting a K-Cup® pack for tea made with paper, a renewable resource, in 2010.
•Including recycling codes in our brewers to facilitate responsible disposal of the recyclable parts of our home brewing systems and to ensure compliance with the RoHS Directive, a set of European regulations designed to reduce the effect of electronic equipment on the waste stream.
•Providing considerable energy savings through Auto-Off features for our At Home brewing systems (excluding the MINI and MINI Plus).

These old containers would make good seed starter containers. I saved over 2100 of the Mott's apple sauce containers that my kids like. 4 a day really adds up.

Thank you for the answers. I have never purchased anything in that type of packaging. The company I work for had a Keurig® brewing system for the employees but got rid of it because they felt it was not "green" enough.

i'm soooo not a "fancy" coffee person.. i like mine white with 2 for a normal cup, i usually only buy granulated instant kind. i do have some sachets of differing ones - just add water jarrah types cause they was cheap. mind you i never use a "normal" cup, big big insulated mugs for me.. i'd love one of those giant trucker type ones u see advertised and used in the US, 7-11 i think does some, the "fill it up in the morning n your still sipping it without a refill at lunch" jobs.

if you are going to store coffee, the best way is still to buy it in bean form and vacuume packed. Get your self a hand grinder, you dont need a large one unless your serving 20+ people.

Gravlore one of the uses that I have found for the K-cup containers was indeed for starting seeds. They can be used over and over again for this purpose. To be able to look at discarded trash and find potential uses for it it is a good prepper ability.
