LOL i thought this was a warning about the RFID chips that are found in most iOS devices... I'm debating to destroy my iPhone and go to non RFID back up when the SHTF.

Depends what you want the phone for. If you expect to have phone service then perhaps you could follow your plan. If you are using it as a repository for information then all you have to do is keep it in a metal box similar to the metal wallets they have for the chip cards. For anything to activate and use the RFID chip you would have to be in very close proximity to a reader. Then you will also have to worry about the built in GPS and triangulation from cell towers which works with any cell phone. Oh well...

That's what I love about the wifi ipads just off wifi and bingo! I'm carrying 100's of books and pictures. The Ipad mini is looking so tempting as a back up!
