Good online video here of info on future Yellowstone Volcano Eruption.
It is interesting one person in the video suggest foods stores for 5 - 6 years.

What I'm not sure of, is whether hydro would also be lost everywhere ?

I don't think the water would go anywhere but it may well be contaminated. So add a high capacity filter (not a Lifestraw) to your kit if you haven't yet. I've got my eyes on a Katadyn Combi.
Bigger danger is that the ash cloud could block the Sun and ruin crops around the world. That'd suck.

yes the ash dust , I am not sure if that would shutdown hydro ? There could be filters that get clogged ?
