I realise that I have been out of touch with things for a while now but wow was I shocked when I started reading about China's Social Credit System and India’s Aadhaar program.
How the heck do you prep for that other then living in the woods off the grid?

You go as grey as possible. No smart phone or related devices on you at all.
You never ever say anything on the phone with certain key words. You don’t need to talk in code, but you never mention any word that can be related to an event or action
No smart TV, Amazon music device in the home, car...
Wireless or network connected cameras are an no go item. Any video cameras system should be hardwired and never connected to the net.
If you wish to meet with like minded folks and your concerned about conversations being monitored, then you set up pre arranged location for future meets and use a benign code word in your conversation to indicate you will meet at xyz location. You then update future planned meetup location when you are together, but never discuss over the phone.
No bookings of hotel...rooms over the phone and in advance of meet up. You tell folks to be in this general area and then you call them five, ten minutes before desired time and tell them where to go to meet. Only one person is to know or organize an event. The more people who know, the greater the risk of compromise.
You want to fade into background and not stand out.
Just think of zero privacy in any room and you start to understand the extent of things. Some will say, you have nothing to fear if your not breaking laws and that all sounds very nice and logical. Issue is, laws or fears change so what is legal or ok today, may not be next year. The more your life is in a database, the more you are vulnerable to abuse. No tin foil hat drama here, just informed knowledge.
No one is plotting overthrows and all that junk. Like you indicate, there are factions who like to know what you think, so keeping them in the dark is your right and I dare say duty.
No one is advocating breaking of laws, just maintaining the laws we are entitled too and must maintain.

In the reports, this people are not using "smart" anything a lot of the time. There are both cameras being used and bio-tech. In the case of India, you have no choice in having your DNA and finger prints taken. In the story I read on China, a person was videoed when she shopped, it tracked her shopping by facial recognition and gave or took away "points" based on her purchases.
I realise that a person's buying habits are already out there for anyone who wants them when purchases are done on-line, with a debit card or credit card.
watch / read this and you will see what I mean

Oh, trust me, I am very familiar with all manner of technology!
Facial recognition has been around for a very long time and deployed in many public spaces. Gov got caught using audio in cameras at ottaw airport to listen to conversations as people walked off the plane and towards customs. Not sure how they figured that was legal as surreptitious interception of oral communications is a fed crime. Guess they figured they wouldn’t get caught breaking their own laws or figured they were above them.
Nope, cash is still king, no smart devices, keep your conversations to a minimum, wear hats and sunglasses.... your not breaking any laws, your just trying to keep business and gov from knowing your movements, free speech and privacy. They have zero legit business knowing any of it.
For those in know,(and I occasionally see that side of the fence and appreciate their honest efforts), who say that you need all this to catch terrorists etc. I say BS. Russians picked up the phone twice to alert FBI about Boston bombers and some moron/s didn’t do their job and action, actionable intelligence and they still screw up intel handed to them on a silver
Latter.
For tax cheats, I also call BS. Put your top execs and gov folks under a short run surveillance op when down in the islands and you will see them going into banks. Bingo, does that show on annual tax form? No? Then let’s chat. That and other easy to do reviews will catch so many. You don’t hear much about the Paraguay bank file these days do you? Dropped that file/opportunity like a lead ballon. Wonder why!
There are tons of bad actors we know about, but because of political correctness, we do zip about them. So if we know about these folks by all manner of easy to monitor social. Media posts, confidential sources.... and yes some legit electronic surveillance and we still screw things up, then I say, get your stuff organized first before looking up my face on a street camera or collecting all the meta data on my phone. Lots of things the gov can and is doing to catch terrorists and other criminal without the need to look up our skirts. So my recommendation to anyone and it’s done by those in the loop, is to go as dark or gray as you can. I understand full well this statement is likely being snagged and don’t care. Happy to chat with boys and girls any day of the week, but my stance on privacy isn’t changing a bit.

All good, just imagine a panda bear in the sandbox. Talk about standing out and with no help! Have a good weekend
You too Clarence. Happy Thanksgiving!
