Can dogs sense when an earthquake is coming? My dog has been acting up lately, and I heard that there might be an earthquake this summer. She stays outside and usually is calm. But now she just wants to get inside my house, like she's in danger from something. And for some odd reason, I think the two (dogs and earthquakes) are related. Aha. Or maybe she just wants to feel safe. I've checked outside and they aren't signs of any animals. Seriously, I checked over my gate with a flashlight. I even sneaked a peak into my neighbors' yards. Shh. But yeah. Any answers?

Many animals seem to be able to sense imminent earthquakes. However, it is usually immediately prior to the event. Never heard of anything beyond a couple of minutes time frame.
Much more likely that it is another animal. With their keen sense of smell dogs don't have to see it to know that it is there. The link to a National Geographic article below may shed some light:

There is a guy who predicts earthquakes based on ocean temperatures, the extra gravity of the sun and moon, a few other things. One of the confirmation signs he uses is a spike in lost and found pets in local newspapers. So it has to be days in advance.
Can't remember his name but he predicted the Oakland quake during the baseball world series.
