Do u think that earthquake in china had anything to do with that thing that they were putting underground? We talked about it today in science class but I dont remember what it is called.

There have been a lot for relatively large and shallow earthquakes lately (~5km >magnitude 5.0). This is unusual and there must be some unexplained mechanism at work.

Nice post Gravlore. The water they pump down lubricates any existing fault lines and voila earthquakes! In our area abandoned mines that eventually flood with ground water cause the same result. The map in your post shows underground temperatures. Quite scary for the western US. Super volcano anyone?

My son covered this in school this year! The water pressure may have (well he believes it DID) caused the earthquake in Virginia last summer.

fracking! That's the word I was trying to think of all freaking day!
Fracking is happening all over the place. The natural gas plume is from Virginia to Southern Ontario and companies are breaking the rock and replacing the gas with water and that is what is causing the problem.
