I had wanted an Aladdin lamp for a long time with an eye on the Genie III model as it is the cheapest.
Yesterday I saw one at a antique store (a model 23) with glass and all for only $34 dolars tax in. It is brass and heavily tarnished and the wick is seized up. I used a not to soft cloth and Brasso for the body and am working the tarnish off pretty well but scratches show from the class, for $34 I don't care about scratches as this one will never look 100% new. No mantle which is very fragile anyway and I'll get a new wick; oh the seized up wick and burner was soaked in water for about half an hour before it could be removed (I used a hair dryer to dry the burner afterwards).
I have to get a mantle and wick now online so I have not lit it yet but I'll do that outdoors for the first time.
After cleaning all this brass, I like the look of the clear glass models better and like that you can see how much oil in inside the glass tank.
I am interested in any Aladdin Canadian stores before I go to Lehman's is the US.
Why did I join Canadian Preppers Network?
Well I was going to join the UK Network but those bloody Brits don't know how to speak proper English! 😉
