A good idea for most people especially if you can get some insight into the interaction of the local geography. The lakes, the escarpment, Bruce Highlands and prevailing winds make for some complex weather around here.
I had a full 2 days of weather during pilot training and I practice all the time, look at the current conditions and try to understand/predict the next 24 hours or so.
