I carry a Kaito KA321 in my travelling BOB (the BOB I put in the trunk of the car for long trips out of town). Unable to find a radio that offered both dedicated weather channels AND shortwave in a small package, I went the shortwave route. I figure almost all AM channels offer periodic weather reports, especially in the event of natural disasters, so I went with shortwave to find out what was going on in the rest of the world. The KA321 is powered by 2 AA batteries and is about the size of a pack of cigarettes (but maybe just a little longer), so it's pocketable. It has 10 bands, AM, FM and eight shortwave. It also has a jack for a headphone. I like it, it plays very clear and is easy to tune. I bought it off Amazon.ca for just under $50.00.
