Just pondering what non-essential items others are storing.

Our most essential 'non-essential' items are violin strings and bagpipe consumables like reeds and hemp,
as well as a game of scrabble and monopoly. The monopoly games around here have been getting very realistic of late mirroring the real financial situation in the world 😆

In a SHTF situation it will be homegrown entertainment for a while.

i have two young kids, so some of the non essentials are things like skipping rope( may become essential but not yet) hot wheel cars, coloring books and lots of crayons. All though...im in the process of taking up candlemaking, so the crayons could end up being an essential should the need arise. But for now the crayons are strictly for coloring dora the explorer!!!!

I'd also mention some foods that are by no means essential, but tremendously help to boost the morale and the general mood: candies, chocolates, dried fruit & nuts...
While they aren't necessarily a part of the standard (if there's such a thing) 72 hour kit or long term prep, they may be great for helping survive the kids' boredom (well, let's admit, some adults' as well 😎 ). Especially while spending lots of time in closed confines of your bug-in location (or en route the bug-out one).
Just my 2 cents...

I met a guy this week that makes small harps. Will be getting one to add to my "music" collection

I have begun transferring a bunch of the stuff i read and collect (fan fic) and select movies and music onto sd cards in formats and bitrates that will work on a couple of mp3 and media players. i also have and am getting dynamo and solar chargers for my electronic media devices (well the little ones). Living alone and being not a viable Bug out prospect in the event of a disaster i'm gunna at least be able to enjoy some of my regular entertainment while stuff gets sorted.

Also gotta get my photos, documents etc archived that way too.

I grew up on Looney Tunes, Marx Brothers mvies and Robin Williams, Enter my mind at your own risk
