Last year, Sweden was saying forget three days, you need to be prepared for a week. This is a serious bump. Nice to see an honest approach, to bad Canada won’t do the same. Imagine if you can, all the benefits society would benefit from.
Wise use of water, power, heat, saving money, growing crops in gardens Etc.

"Last year, Sweden was saying forget three days, you need to be prepared for a week."

That advice coming from an individual is one thing, but coming from a government it could also mean, "We've spent all the tax money, you're on your own for a week now."

Well yeah, much different than here. Here all they think you need is an autographed selfie of the PM to keep you warm.

A cash reserve is always a good idea, too. I know someone who was stranded in Ontario when the power went out in 2003. She was in a rented car with no money. No banking machines for money, no gas stations open for gas, just stuck living out of her rental car until the power was restored.

Scrounger, I looked around for other sites with article but this one seemed to provide the most info. Comes with pesky garbage ads... Yes there are references to immigrant issues but one has to take those influences for what they may represent. I say May! One is, are they a threat to national security and perhaps the reason for ramping up preparedness? Two, what would the state have to deal with in these areas if things went south for a week or two and the threat of overflow from these areas on other citizens?

I still say we would face similar issues here and cities will not be good places to be after a few days and all we hear on radio in the dark is how hard our PM is working and Canadians are strong, blah blah blah. I don’t think to many people will be listening to BS statements after day 7 and zero relief in sight. In fact, after day 7, even at emergency stations, things will be visibly falling apart and only true believers in the goodness of the state will be swallowing the feel good pep talks.

Anyways, I think Sweden is doing the right thing on this front and it will bring long term improvements for life and various emergencies.
