"THE CITADEL

The Citadel is evolving as a planned community where residents are bound together by:

•Patriotism
•Pride in American Exceptionalism
•Our proud history of Liberty as defined by our Founding Fathers, and
•Physical preparedness to survive and prevail in the face of natural catastrophes — such as Hurricanes Sandy or Katrina — or man-made catastrophes such as a power grid failure or economic collapse."

I saw this in the paper today. It's American, and has very American ideals that go along with it but what do think?
Do you think a prepper community would be a safe place to be? Or a target?
Would you like to live somewhere like this?

If your home library contains more volumes about survival-related topics than your local public library, you might be a prepper.

Sounds like some guy who's trying to get hundreds or thousands of people together to fund a huge community.

In my experience those who most desire to be in command of others are the least suited to do so.

That was one of my initial thoughts too. Anything built to keep people out can also be used to keep people in.
I have wondered about a prepper community though, perhaps not so much for defence but more to live with other like minded people who do the same things that I do. It would be an interesting experiment to follow I think.

Personally, I wouldn't touch this one with someone else's ten foot pole...
As for a community, well, I think that a bug out location for your own personally chosen group is a better idea.

You guys know that I do push for 'Community'... But this one does scream Cult. Jones Town, anyone? Exclusiveness is always a good give away. I have a personal rule of "Never trust anyone that identifies as a 'Patriot'." What that translates to is that they feel moraly justified killing you if you disagree with anything they say because they are the 'Good Guys' and calling them on their shit is proof that you are an agent of the conspiracy of Bag Guys. Germany was filled with Patriots.

I have a Tactical Harness and I have a Tool Belt. The Tool Belt is more Useful.
