I am wondering how many of us has come face to face with buying long term shelve life foods. I'm asking specifically about not just the actual costs of the foods here in Canada, but all of the collateral costs. I have been looking for and purchasing quite a few different different products on the market and have come to a number of conclusions and would like some specific or general feedback that any of the members could, would or can give me. First a general assumption that I believe to be true:
1)All long term foods, either freeze dried or dehydrated seem to be produced only in the USA, likely in Oregon, Ohio or Idaho.
2) Prices of these generally appear to be any where from 30% to 3 times less in their costs in the US verses what we are or can be charged here in Canada.
3) US companies that distribute or retail to Canadians will not accept credit card payments from Canadians, and typically reply that "there is a high number of fraud or use of stolen credit cards from Canadians buyers" when asked why they demand hard currency (wire transfer, money deposited via same) when you attempt to purchase on-line using a credit card and you call them to find out why "your order is in processing" and has not bee n PROCESSED.
4) All US based distributors or manufacturer direct always state (some generalization here) state, "free delivery with all orders over $100.00." but when you want shipment to Canada the cost can be as little as an additional $440.69 to $1,847.32.
5) Typical #10 can of Beef Stew with Veggies is quoted as little as $13.00 to $18.00 but the same can, made by the same manufacturer is sold at Sporting/Camping Goods store in BC costs between $34.00 to $47.00, depending if you shop around.
6) Single or Double portion freeze dried packages cost between $5.47 to $8.00 on line, however the package costs between $12.00 to $15.00 in Canada.
Does this sound familiar to anyone reading this? Is there already an established company or distributor in Canada that anyone knows of who sells these products at a "REASONABLE PROFIT MARK UP, and will accept honest buyers using real credit cards?????
If anyone knows who these companies are, and can anyone tell me who and how you contact them.
If, I receive information or contact information on such a company, I will gratefully thank them and purchase only from them for as long as continue to prep or SHTF.
If, however no one can direct me or tell me about such a company, would everyone like to know and would buy from a legimate company ran and operated by serious preppers, and not only would the mark up and profit be reasonable, the attached invoicing and all costs would be proudly presented to any and all buyers.
This Canadian Company would also ensure that an entire range of Survival Goods would also be available, with absolute guranatee that no cheap knock off products or products not fully tested and certified to function as described and typically a much higher standard than expected would also be available, an example is a product like the Vulcano Stove (the original one, not the super duper popper one now being marketed), .....
As you may have guessed, I want to be that person who has the best products at the best prices for all serious preppers and I also want to ensure that like minded people are supported to be able to ensure that they and those they love and care about get an equal opportunity to get the best products to survive, wether surviving in place, or GOOD bugging out, what ever your plans are, don't we all deserve the best use of our hard earned money?
Please believe, I am looking at doing this to help the community, and sure I hope to make some money so I and my family can survive any SHTF The End Of The World As We Know It...!!!
Please respond/reply as honestly as you can, and give me as much information about your own experiences so I can see if such a thing as I describe is NEEDED AND WANTED IN CANADA.
Thank you
