diy chiropractic

Anyone have any experience with diy chiropractic. I get out of alignment and in extreme pain sometimes. One or 2 adjustments from the chiropractor does miracles. if & when the shit hits, I'll be a basket case if I can't get adjustments or do them myself. I have seen a couple of books on Amazon, but the reviews leave me wondering...

I used to go to the "chirocracker" on a regular basis. I made plenty of emergency calls too! I found exercise - mainly hauling water buckets and working outside have alleviated my back and neck pain almost completely. Strengthening exercises and weight lifting may help you but start off slowly 🙂

Yoga too is very focused on developing strength and balance in your alignments and I found at my fittest, I was enabled to do a tremendous physical load because I did work out additionally to keep my body strong and flexible . Boy have I gone downhill from there and have my work cut out for me to get back to optimum . Farm chores do seem to be a blessing , as long as I clean stalls and have a good bed , it seems to support the core and I never have a sore back .

I've been going to a chiro since '74 and when on holidays or the chiro is on holidays, my hubby knows a few basic adjustments and these get me through until I can see the pro. Any chiro will teach you a few simple DIY adjustments. All the replies are right....exercise in moderation really does help.
Just over a bout of vertigo and the chiro showed me how to treat myself.

I agree that yoga and core exercises would likely be the best to help strengthen back muscles over a period of time.

This is what i learned from friends who knew the founder of Chiropractic, and i have done this and offered this many times myself :

(The first premise is that all pain and even unfelt symptoms originate from a misalignment of the "atlas and axis" near the base of the skull. Other factors are subsidiary as is nutrition.
Attitudinal posture is always a great contributor to misalignment and perpetuated by self-induced stress. And there are genuine physical causes, of course.)

While working in a field, the founder had excruciating pain in the back/leg area (sciatic?) He stopped wrestling with it and decided to have a nap under a tree ...specifically a tree which was split in the middle forming a supportive crotch for his head to be supported . (presumably he laid his jacket in there too?) While dozing, he felt a distinct uncrunching in his neck.
With just the right amount of downwards pull , in a relaxed state, he discovered apparently that the atlas/axis had re-aligned to unpinch the nerves in their middle corridor, and his pain was gone. This was the basis of his whole practise, emphasizing that just the right amount of nudging is appropriate, but great care not to arbitrarily use great wrenching.

Some later practitioners , through a volume of direct experience discovered that merely hold ing their fingertips near the A/A on either side would bring the same quick results, according to the responsive state of the patient. This became the basis for the first popularized practise of no-touch, or vibrational, healing in the west.
Much depends on the total state of the "giver", of course.

Major Eureka!! A friend lent me a book called 8 Steps to a Pain Free Back. If you've had back issues or know someone who has or just want to be prepared for an extremely common debilitating problem, buy this book! The author is Esther Gokhale. Please google her and watch some of her videos, she has researched proper posture and movement and has helped countless people to overcome back problems.

Now, I'm afraid by saying proper posture and movement you will jump to the conclusion that all you have to do is stop slouching and lift with your knees. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Go to her site and find out for yourself!
