This seemed like the most appropriate heading for this topic.

Many here have dogs, and if you have dogs, you have dog poop to deal with.
For health reasons it cannot be composted and spread on food gardens, and many municipalities have by-laws against waste in the trash, even if it is not enforced.

The easy solution to this is a mini septic system in your backyard.
There are a few different methods, and I have links posted to two different versions.
While this serves to assist in dealing with your pets day-to-day waste disposal requirements, in a situation where you may not be able to flush your toilets, it could serve as a place to safely empty chamber pots. Adding septic tank additives can assist in speeding up the composting process.
This would not be a long term solution, but in a short term situation, would certainly beat disposing of countless plastic bags filled with waste.

Obviously this would need to be located far from any in ground garden, but if you have raised beds, it would not likely cause any health issues.
It is also safe to keep around "tree crops", as the bacteria would have no direct contact with the fruits, nuts, etc....

You can also purchased premade systems with the product name Doggie Dooley, that comes with a lid, but their capacity is limited.

A subject worthwhile mentioning Phuqd.

By feeding a natural diet to your dog/s as opposed to a commercial diet, the extreta breaks down much faster. If a small amount of molasses is added to their diet daily, the natural sugars will also speed up decomposition, or a solution of molasses and water sprayed onto the waste will assist in the process.

I have recently been thinking about a "what if" total bug in situation where my animals may not be able to relieve themselves outdoors and how I would deal with that. I guess I would have revert to puppyhood days and train them to "go" on newspaper and dispose of it in the same way.
