In the SAS New and Updated Survival Handbook the Sltimate Suide to Survivng Anywhere by John Wiseman, I found a paragrap I foh explaining that soap should not be used to often in a survival situation, for it gets rid of useful oils on your body that waterproof your skin and prevents germs. There is also an article in The Survival Hanbook Essential Skills for Outdoor Adventure by DK, that says to not use shampoo and just use water to wash your hair. I found these both interesting and thought I would share it with my fellow preppers.

I remember when my step brother did tree planting up in Northern Canada they were not "allowed" to use anything that had a scent. That meant no deodorant either. I believe it was 6 weeks of planting then 1 week out. He said they were a smelly bunch. I believe the no human made scent thing was to "bend in" with nature.
