Sometimes I listen to people like Alex Jones, Stan Monteith, Lindsey Williams etc and get a little peeved...it's not the info they give that I find annoying, for that I am very grateful, but I get a little peeved about the opportunities my kids will miss out on.
I am presently listening to my 18 year old son practice his singing, opera and very damned nice it is too, and wonder if when the SHTF he will get an opportunity later to pursue his love of opera and Shakespearean acting.
This is all a little depressing apart from at least being able to create our own home grown entertainment.

But with so much potential it would be a shame to not have it mature to more 😐
Good thing he also wishes to farm, haha he is always quoting deathly lines from Shakespeare to farm animals that don't behave themselves and singing to them or singing as he works in the garden!

Well that's my bleat for the day 😉

You obviously have very talented offspring! One who is into opera singing & Shakespearean acting plus one who is into vet nursing. Plus if you add in the farming interests......you have done very well with both of them (patting you on the back, Cares)

Haha...Thanks Susannah 😀 it has been a lot of hard work having homeschooled them but it has paid off, they are very amiable, fun, old fashioned kids and great friends.
A family that plays togother, stays together...a lot of music (bagpipes, banjo, tinwhistles, fiddle), fun and laughter around here most of the time.
Good homeschooling the kids so they didn't cop all the government lies etc and could thus develop a love of learning, which still continues with both of them...I am tickled pink 😀

Just put in an application for a Bell Shakespeare scholarship for DS...I hope he gets it, I'm certain his audition will go well as he doesn't act Romeo, he becomes Romeo and captures the audience so well and makes the young ladies and girls swoon 😆
His sister keeps bagging the scholarships for piping and went to Canberra and Melbourne...lucky little girl 🙂

Anyone thinking of homeschooling their kids before or after the SHTF, go for it, it's the best thing you could do for your kids and yourself!

Did you have much of a drama with the education system out here inAustralia when you did this?

As we are not happy with Education system in QLD and are considering alternatives.

FNQ'er.....you could start here
http://www.aussieeducator.org.au/education/specificareas/homeschooling.html
I only had a few issues with the education department, but nothing major.

If you are concerned about jumping in the deep end, then you could also look into Distance education however this is through the education department in your state. You do have to meet strict criteria to take on this option.

Thanks - will have a look.
But still not sure yet as to which way will be best. Will wait and see how the new National Curriculum will go, as for the 'Naplan Tests' - talk about dodgey books - this year our childs class focused for more than a whole term on preparing them for getting a good 'Naplan Score'.
We need uniformity in ALL of our states educational areas and examinations.
Then we can start to educate our kids properly.

I have done that so many times. Now I always type it in a word processor save it and then copy it into the post. Sometimes I have has it disappear into la la land just after I pressed submit. At least this way you can always go back and copy & paste it again. 🙂

What p****s me of most is that our entire global society at all levels has become one of deception. Misinformation abounds and it is virtually impossible to get a straight answer out of anyone. Backstabbing and deceit are glorified as the way to advancement. Our governments at all levels, corporations, right on down to individuals, seem incapable of just simply telling the truth about anything. No one is direct, no one is honest........... they are evasive, rudeness has become the norm, and they feel free to say whatever they need to if it shifts blame or suits their hidden agendas. Integrity be damned.

Our TV channels are filled with 'reality' shows that promote deceit and manipulation.

Personally I find that as the years have gone by I want less and less to do with people. The number of genuine, straightforward individuals, who are honest to a fault, are so few and far between that I think I can count the number I have met in the last decade on one hand. No, I prefer the solitude of our ranch and spending quality time with my wife. The wildlife, our livestock and the dogs are companions you can take at face value.

Let no good deed go unpunished.

Well Mooswa that is quite the cynical approach. However I understand completely where you are coming from and for a greater part I have to agree. I would estimate to varying degrees these traits are present in the majority of the population across all races, creeds and colours.

Most people watch and enjoy 'reality' shows. They are bombarded with deceit and manipulation and they lap it up. No wonder that they arrive a new norm. I have never watched a 'reality' show nor will I. The word reality in this context is verbal irony!

However I know that straightforward and honest people are out there. They may be few and far between as you say but they are out there. I have to live with the belief that eventually t decency and honesty will prevail because without that we are truly doomed.

Who, me cynical. 😆

I have had more coffee now and am a bit more mellow. 😉 There are good honest people out there to be sure, but the percentages have been dropping for a long time as the values and mores of our society have been changing. I find people are increasingly very shallow creatures, consequently deep and lasting friendships and loyalty are almost intangible concepts for many. For many everyone is a friend these days it seems........... while life has taught me that I will probably only have a handful of true friends in my lifetime and many acquaintances.

Yes I have a bad attitude.............. but I do truly appreciate it when I actually meet someone who is straight forward, has common sense and critical thinking skills. Being able to take someone at face value will be very important when the SHTF....... they are the ones you will want to have around you. I don't meet many I would want to be in a jackpot with.

What p...'s me of the most is sheeple. my sheep friend mostly, i was watching doomsday preppers and at the end of it she walked in and this is conversation
Her: Whats this?
Me: Doomsday preppers.
Her: OMG LOL ur crazy
Me: Baaa
Her: What are you talking about?
Me: Your acting like a sheep following the what everyone else does
Her: Well atleast im smart enough to know that if a solar flare happened the government would fix it the next day!
Me: How is that then?
Her: The government can do everything!
Me: So how come there are wars in the world? fluoride in our water and no jobs?
Her: Fluoride is good for you stupid!
*I Then walk out of the room and find some rat poison and go talk to her again.
Me: Eat this
Her: No its bad for you
Me: look at the label its only fluoride!
Her: theres probably something else in it too!
Me: Baaa.....
thats my conversation with my friend the sheep.

Cigarettes are just like HedgeHogs, perfectly harmless until you put them in your mouth and light them on fire.
