New to prepping. Have a small piece of land that we're trying to get growing our own food from. While reading about how to make the most use of our land for the garden, I came across some prepper's websites, and found it quite interesting.

We've just started our 3 month supply this morning, with a trip to Costco, (Club Price). Also made my price book today, so keep track of what we're paying per unit, and watching for the deals to build up our inventory.

So that is where we are at, and hoping to learn a lot from this site. Thank you for setting up the forums.

Hello Quebecker!

I have been searching out a lot of gardening info as well, particularly related to symbiotic gardening. I will post anything I come across and hope you might post/share your gardening adventures as well!

Hello Quebecker, bet the fall colour are looking pretty nice were you are. I,m the same as you, a bit of land to get sustainable on. I like the rules the Quebec government has for small size farmers.

The leafs are changing now, it's very early yet, but you can see the colours.

And what are the good rules that the Quebec government has towards small sized farmers? My father had cattle for the past 20 years, always about 15-20 head. I bought the cattle 3 years ago, and when I bought them, they cut all subsidizes, cut all our insurance payments, and gave us more red tape to file. My experience is that they killed a small farmer, by cutting my income, and increasing my expenses.

The family farm is 180 acres, so we have enough land to get something going. Hopefully my father will be ready to sell the land to me soon, so I can actually put up some buildings on it.

Nice to hear from a Quebecer!

Brand new to this list and happy to meet fellow Canadians with same interests. I have a parcel of land (12 acres) and been gardening and prepping. I've started a 3 mos food inventory and hope to make that a 6mos to 1 year survival stash by next Spring. Being an RVer I've already got plenty of camping gear to help during power failures which occur often during winter storms. Our two wood stoves heat the house real well and also provide a good alternative for cooking during those pesky power losses. Last winter had to melt snow to get water -- won't happen this winter -- I'm ready.

Glad to meet all of you and hope to contribute with good tidbits of info/knowledge.

My best Calora
