Hello all, glad to be here, have founds these forums very helpful so happy to join. I live near Lake Huron on one acre, we have been working towards self sufficient lifestyle for the past ten years, didn't know I was "prepping" until earlier this year. I am interested in info/advice/insight on family members living away from home (2 adult sons in city) and family members are home with chronic health issues. Nice to meet you all!

Greetings Schoolhouse.

As far as your sons in the city, they need to come out of the city as soon as they can. If you want help on persuading them, sorry, I have issues on that one myself!
As far as your family's chronic health issues, despite what the world will tell you, that is a spiritual problem. Ex 15:26

"And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee."

I highly suggest you take the Most High's advice.

Well that could be one approach. Personally I would be look at practical solutions that might produce tangible results.

Having family members at home with chronic health issues sure add more to the challenge of prepping. A lot might depend on the age of the family member, the nature of the problem, the availability of medications if they required and the amount of care that other family members must contribute. Every situation is different. However there are workable solutions that can be found for every situation.

I probably would not post too much personal information on this public board. To maintain some privacy we can talk in generalities. Decide in general terms what is the major issue in your situation and we will all see what we can do to help.

I can tell you've never tried the Most High's way. People who aren't willing to give sin up generally just make excuses for why death works in their lives. But since we live in Satan's kingdom right now, have fun with your 'tangible results'. My church has healed people from cancer, kidney dialysis, arthritis, mental illnesses, depression, the list goes on. But like I said, people don't want to give up sin, so they'd rather mock the prospect of getting healed because that gives them an excuse to keep on sinning.

Well DT I have learnt at my expense that you should never assume anything. You know where that can lead to. There is no mocking going on here. Each has their own way dealing with every situation. I prefer a balanced approach. I hope to offer some tangible solutions that Schoolhouse can try because in many respects I am dealing with the same situation. You are obviously a person of great faith, that is good. It is working for you, that is great too. However there are always other solutions that can be applied to any problem that may alleviate the situation.

Thanks for your suggestion DT but as IC suggested, I am looking into more tangible ways for our family. Thanks for you advice IC, I spent some time reviewing medical forums on American Preppers Network forum and the Survival Mom site. We have to drive a fair bit to deal with medical family issues so DH & I end up talking about alot of ideas to research or options while on the road, helps to pass the time then I check the forums after to glean info. Today we were driving not to a med appt but to a building supply store in a nearby city so spent the car time discussing some of info from the Patriots book (see another thread called vehicles) and again, ways we can look at pain mgment issues in SHTF scenario. We also took the backroads on the way home and kept commenting on properties we saw with great BOL potential, 😆 funny what we agreed on and what we didn't. regardless, lovely weather meant nice day for a drive on a beautiful fall day.

Welcome to the site Schoolhouse!! We have some health issues we are dealing with here as well - it's always good to know there are others prepping with that in mind!
