Hi there.

Just thought I would look around and see what what I don't know.
Which is pretty much everything. 😆

I started prepping in January. It wasn't part of a resolution or anything, but hubby might be out of work in a few years due to cut backs, so I thought I better see what I could do.

Hello to you and your hubby Bluegrrl,
Not a lot of people here from Cape Breton, but then again most that live there are Preppers already, just by a different name.
So Welcome, Welcome

Hey there bluegrrl, welcome to the forum. You have probably chosen the best reason to start prepping. Job loss is not only a very real and present danger, but a subject very close to my heart as I have been out of work since December. Thanks to stockpiling food, reducing expenses, and saving cash, I have been able to keep my family living comfortably. I think the best move I made was to buy an inexpensive country house for cash and renovate it. Not having to pay rent or a mortgage has lifted a huge burden now that the family income has gotten leaner.

Thank you all.

Yes. Most of us here in Cape Breton are survivors of one type or another. lol
Scroungers as well.

In CB good economies don't mean much, but bad economies mean much worse. I'm rather grateful for a few things. The notification (I suppose) and the fact that we have our house nearly paid for is good. We have no other debt besides a car payment.

So, it could be much much worse. 😀

We are still renovating our house. I told hubby that this is the last time and I am hoping that it is all finished by the time work is over.

There are so many things to worry about and I find it too easy to go from stock piling food to prepping for natural disasters and then for the zombie apocalypse. It is hard to stay focused because it all fits together rationally... minus the zombies.
