I'm pretty new to the whole prepping scene but this looks like a great place to share information!
I'm Daisy, a single mom to 2 girls, and I'm all about the food - storage, producing it, and cooking it. I've always enjoyed creating tasty meals within guidelines and strictures so this is just another way to exercise that creativity.
I look forward to "meeting" you all!
Hi Daisy,
Food prep is one of the biggest things you can do for yourself, no matter what... Prices spike way up? No problem, already got the food! Food supply is disrupted by storm, anarchy, whatever? Again, you have it covered. Good to hear you have that one covered!
I'm pretty new to this all too, but between forums and articles online I've learned a lot, and from going out and trying stuff I've learned I can DO a lot.
Hope you and your kids have the same experience! If you are willing to try you can do just about anything.
Well, TCadd, just recently I discovered I can pick a simple lock with a multi-tool and I can jumpstart my car without calling CAA! :). Prepping is a can-do mindset that can affect other facets of your life than just food stores!
It absolutely can Daisy! I find practicing the things I learn through these sites and other sources to be a great confidence builder which definitely helps on the can-do mindset you mention. I've just bought my first house so soon I'll be applying a lot more of that knowledge on a regular basis, as well. Currently my goals towards greater self-sufficiency include getting completely out of debt with the exception of my mortgage, building up a proper food stockpile for 3+ months, and having a nice solar setup that will allow me to have limited but useful power when the grid goes down.
All nice, attainable goals that will definitely help out if things go downhill either for everyone or just for myself.
Hello Daisy,
glad to meet you, I am in Ontario as well. Durham Region and Fenlen Falls areas.
Soon you will be getting into Natural - Wild foods and the possibilities are endless then.
Cheers to you
Hello Daisy from Ontario
go Ontario go, lots of us coming on broad.
I,m over in eastern Ontario. We love to grow our organic food and eat it. More time is spent on food productions and making yummy meals eating than any thing else.
Hi Daisy from Victoria!
I look forward to reading about your food storage/prep posts, I am always scouting for new ideas!

I'm also in the Durham Region area, and just started posting today. I'm finding prepping "fun". As I enjoy trying to find the best prices / sales. Also great items found at Value village and other used stores. Like cast iron pans, wool clothes, boots, extra winter wear for the car...

Hello Hridika,
there is a small meet and greet at a coffee shop this Sat at 2pm. See the forum for the info.
I will probably not be going as I need to get back up to the property and do some Winter Prep work there.
Welcome and cheers to you
Welcome Daisy,
