Howdy and Welcome one and all,

This best piece of advice I can give to new members is to get involved, post questions and post observations. Also, speak to the challenges you are having in getting your preps together - funds, time, overwhelmed, where to start. There are many excellent sources of knowledge on this site, ask a question and one or more will post a reply.

Of course, reading past posts is also a good source of information.

I look forward to reading more of your posts in the future.

Cheers,

Mountainman.

Hi from North Bay, Ontario.
I have been a prepper for sometime but to a very simple level.
That preparation has helped me and my family through 3 "disasters".
I feel things have changed and so had my preparedness.
I have a more extensive reserve, and plans to Bug Out, if need be.
I build a little more every week.
I just wanted to connect with like minded people.
Cheers!!!

Hi everyone! I'm from Barrie, On and have had prepping on my brain for over a year but am just getting started as I'm so overwhelmed I'm in panic mode! My husband thinks I'm being ridiculous but I am starting without him! I have 2 young kids I need to care for and keep well. PLEASE help me and guide me where to get started, what I should be prioritizing and because I'm getting a late start how quickly I need to catch up.

There is lots of beginner info on this site, if you can find it! I would start with the basics but most importantly, don't panic! Food storage, water storage, alternative heat, meds, stuff for the kids, ect. As well there are other sites that might be easier to get info out of - non forum style. One that helped me in the beginning was,

http://www.grandpappy.info/indexhar.htm

The part I liked was 'How to start preparing for hard times on a very modest budget'

Just don't mind the religious stuff if not applicable:)

Hello from Newfoundland... I am new to prepping but, have been gathering information and started food storage ..(dehydrating,canning) for about 6 to 8 months..Me and my husband live in rural Newfoundland but have lived in British Columbia and Northern Ontario... in pretty remote areas, so being with out power for short periods of time or generally camping in the bush.... hunting fishing etc. is normal for us...I have two children who I am teaching as much as I can also...as I learn it... I cannot wait to read more and learn more on this site .Thanks

Hello from Black Creek on Vancouver island. I am a 40 yr old Mother of one, my husband and I have been prepping for about a year. I work part time as a practical nurse and the rest of the time I take care of our acreage and raise our daughter. I have been canning for 15+ years as well as have been gardening since I was 21. It has been a long journey for both me and my husband to get to this point. We both grew up in the City and had very little exposure to growing, preparing and storing food as well as how to live a self sustaining life style (still working on this) We are interested in meeting other preppers online or in our area. Forgive me but I think I may have posted another introduction to myself in the wrong area as the one I made previously is not listed here. Happy prepping!

Just joined. Been prepping for 2 years. Canning, dehydrating, etc. Oil lamps, solar lights, kerosene and wood heating. Gas generators. Berkey water filtration Composter toilet. Meat smoker. Propane cookers. All back ups in place..but still using the regular amenities of town water, sewer, hydro and propane high efficiency heating until the SHTF.
62 yrs old and with my wife. Living between Wawa and Thunder Bay North of Hwy 17. Undisclosed town for now.
We're bugged out already. Safe, quiet, lots of water fish and widlife. Hunting and fishing equipment coming out the ears.
We're well equipped and other than solar, we're pretty well covered. Just need to get more of the community involved and cognizant of what they may have to prepare for. I feel it will be EMP, Economic collapse or Korean Dirty Bomb that is the danger.
I'm looking for others in THIS SPECIFIC AREA...NORTH OF TRANS CANADA HWY 17 ABOVE Lake Superior.

Hi,

I've been enjoying reading the many interesting topics and decided to finally join. I'm in eastern Ontario, east of the capital, and hoping to learn more and maybe share ideas with others. I've been prepping for about 3 years.

I descend from a long line of practical folks, lumberjacks, farmers, teachers and one sulkey jockey that raced in Chicago during the Capone years but that's another story! These people raised their own animals for food, fished, hunted, gardened, canned, cold stored and generally pulled together to help their neighbours in times of need.
I share the values of my forebears and hope to put into practice some of the skills they used to use every day.

Hey Crusoe,
Welcome to the group.
You'll find a great bunch of people here, with the exception of me, resident tyrant that is.
Seriously, I'm from Quebec, but with few other Quebekers here, I tend to hang out with the Ottawa crowd...they're a lot more fun anyways!

Thanks Denob and Farmgal for the welcome. Farmgal, looks like we are very close neighbours. Maybe we'll run into each other at the TSC!
