It's getting close to a year since I started farming mealworms. They've survived some pretty serious neglect, nevertheless, I was sick and tired of their company. So I finally cleaned their environment, disposed of the corpses and manure and harvested the survivors.

This time I euthanized them by freezer, less traumatic that way then throwing them into the fry pan alive like last time. I had already sauted a bunch of mixed veggies cut small and had brown rice cooked. So after sauteing the little beggars, I mixed everything together and keeping a suspicious eye out for any movement, I "enjoyed", I think, my supper. Half way through I broke out the salsa to try and dress it up a bit. Outcome just ok.

Stuff I learned - mainly they can survive a LOT of abuse and neglect. No wonder insects are ubiquitous. They don't reproduce quite as fast as I thought. However I was a terrible keeper, so no telling how great the outcome might have been if I had actually half way cared for them proper. Please don't report me, my life has truly been insane. Truly.

I'm glad them little beggars have been dispatched. No more guilt as I charge by their miserable dwelling on my way out the door. I hope they went to a better place.
