Hello fellow preppers! My business is smoking meat. Primarily, smoked salmon and beef jerky. I sell my product on ebay, and locally and am currently in the process of setting up an independant website. Smoked meat and fish is definitely a preppers tool for survival. Smoked and cured meats keep for months un-refrigerated, and in some cases, years. I once read of a guy from South Carolina, that had decided to start curing a ham the day his daughter was born. He cured the ham, the old fashioned way by using salt, pepper. Then he smoked it for a week. After smoking, he hung it to cure in his shack. 23 years later, he served that ham at his daughters wedding! 23 YEARS!! No refrigeration, just good old American, lo-tech curing principals. That is how I cure and smoke my products. Of course, I vacuum seal them for shipping, but the process I use is the same. I use only pure ingredients, NO MSG! NO LIQUID SMOKE! I would sure love to hear from other professionals on techniques and recipes.

bidding for food on ebay seem odd to me, how can you make money doing that. ? It does look really yummy, what if you don't do credit cards.

I've witnessed the salmon run with great interest at Valemount and assume your salmon supply comes from another location but that sure is a lot of fish in mid August! 😯

We've had the stainless dehydrator for a couple years now, but still slicing by hand.
Does anyone have a source for a vertical slicer for uniform thickness of meat?
I know there is such an attachment for a motorized multi use accessories, but is there a good, stainless stand-alone mechanical or motorized slicer?
