Hi how are you all. New to the site and to prepping really but have been doing a lot of research
and have a set of solid goals and plans to get there...connecting with other preppers being one of
those plans. I'm excited to get started and guess I'll give a shout out to the north island.
Welcome to the forum Gettingthere.
Hello all!
Been prepping quietly for the last few years, starting with basics (72 hr kits, then food and water for a few weeks, then...) I have paramedical and military experience and now work as a helicopter pilot in central Alberta. Hoping to pick up new tricks while on this forum.

Welcome to the forum Marrii.
Hello Folks. I'm in the Coquitlam area of British Columbia. Thought I should check around and see for myself if there are Canadian Preppers out there doing their thing. It's really good to see that there are like minded folks around. I moved to BC from rural Ontario way back in the 70's. (Yes, a mother earth lovin Hippie). Well, I used to be. Could I still be one? Maybe?.
Thank God that I haven't lost some of my early 70's back-to-the-lander experience . Got married rather late in life, which was actually a cool experience. Blessed with two girls, I got them some Chickens as pets a few years ago, about 20. LOL Well, you can imagine the fun I had with that. (all within city limits)
Do have a nice postage stamp vegetable garden, fruit trees, solar food dryer in the summer and a good fish and meat smoker. You actually don’t need that much land. And canning when produce is abundant and really cheap almost eliminates the need for a garden anyway. I do like to grow tobacco.
I guess that I'm a prepper? However, I'm not as paranoid as our Southern Cousins. I believe that if and when, as you folks say the SHTF. It'll be starting South of the border. Which will give us plenty of notice that something's in the wind. Having spent many years on this marble, I feel that something definitely is on the way. And soon.
Personally, I'm not sure that I would really like the idea of Bugging -out. Bugging -in sounds a little safer to me. An emergency or, a government created situation "down south" would most certainly have a ripple effect in our country. But, I don't think it'll be as drastic as would happen in our country. We might have a sudden influx of Americans with campers and fully armed claiming asylum. But then, we have the CIA, FBI and Homeland Security departments securely established in major cities within our country, (That’ll stop them at the gates). Thanks to our Government giving them access. They’ll even give the US our Canadians to put in their jails. Fancy that eh!
Anyone read Orwell’s 1984?
I suggest that if one is serious about guarding their families and well being in times of hardship.... Find yourself plenty of old (70's) Mother Earth News mags. You'll find articles on gardening, how to make wind turbines, health, food drying, animal husbandry and much more. Feel free to email me if you like. I’ll be happy to hear from you. In the meantime, Blessings, stock up and be well.

Thank you for the warm welcome....
A welcome to the forum to PrepperVancouver from sunny Northern Ontario.
From Western Canada and looking to meet other like minded individuals.
Been through the T&C and noticed the NO CONSPIRACY rules. Not sure where I stand on that as it seems everything that happens is a conspiracy until proven fact or false. But I digress and will follow the guidelines.
I belong to a few other sites and have posted a lot of info on BOB prep, outdoor baking, ovens, seed vaults, survival etc.
One of my favorite sites: http://www.pssurvival.com/ ...NOT MINE BTW.
Yes, it says Pole Shift but that's not the actual focus. Survival is at the core of the content. I hope this doesn't violate anything as I just want to contribute. Another favorite is http://www.seedsnow.com/ but many here are most likely very aware of it.
One thing that I have noticed on a lot of other sites is the mentality of the lone wolf survivor. I'm not a subscriber to this approach at all. In fact it's a recipe for disaster. Small communities are what will survive as each member brings different skills to contribute to the whole. I keep asking others "What if you get sick? Break a leg or an arm?" Surprising how many haven't thought of that scenario. And if there are children involved? Too many "what ifs" for this situation.
My wife and I are small business owners in the Kootenays (Food Related) and like many people these days, trying to stay ahead of the game. We just find ourselves tired of that game because we didn't design it. So we have been looking for ways to break the cycle, sell the business and even looking at communities where our skills can be used. Baking (Gluten Free a specialty) cooking for large numbers of people from small amounts of ingredients. Gardening. Many others but we feel these will aid a community in the neediest times.
Anyways, just wanted to finally say hello, add a few thoughts and a link or 2 for like minded folks in the West. Or anywhere for that matter. Have seen this site before and decided to drop back in and see if it is a fit. 🙂
