Hey there,
A hundred years ago prepping was normal, for the lean times before winter set in. I often wonder when I go to the grocery store...how many people would survive without them. There is a new mentality growing and I see it with all the new backyard gardens popping up and backyard chickens moving in. It warms my heart. I will teach my grandchild how to grow a carrot, an egg and how to make a loaf of bread. The more basic skills you can acquire the more self-reliant you become.
Hello from Vernon. Thankful that there are like-minded people out there.

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking this forum on and off for awhile now and figured I might as well get off the fence and get active. I'm in Calgary and planning to check out as many meets as I can. I look forward to meeting people at the events and learn more about prepping.

Hi Si
there has been a lot said since I've joined this group, having said that I would advise, before asking any questions, drop a topic in the search box. Just about everything that you want to know has been spoken about, plus a few that you probably wish you hadn't heard about. 😈

Great to find this site, and to see that regions have their own space for dialog.I'm in ontario.
I have lived/learned in several kinds of intentional communities over many years, and have been proposing yet another,... to be in relatively remote, central/northern ontario.
This has a great range of proposed features, and of course, central to its core is the developed abilities of its self-determined members to learn interdependence, as needed.

I've been looking for a long time for shareholders... of discovered like mind... to develop a joint situation with many more possibilities than a solo scenario can bring.
A consequence of such a living space is that it can be a learning place for others coming along to develop their own flavour of community to replicate.
That being said, i am also prepared to "go it alone" if there is insufficient shared vision of the possibilities .

If this is of interest to anyone , please feel free to indicate your wish to contact me offline , and i will provide an e-ddress to link to less public details... if that's how it can be done here.?
Meanwhile, i shall continue to learn more from you all , adding to my own accumulated resilience/skills...building,gardening,social dynamics....
Thank you all for what you're putting out there.

Hello I am George Currently in Houston Fort Bend county area. I am a single parent. X Naval Nuclear RO trained. Also Electronics Tech cross trained EM/MM I worked after the navy for DOD/DLA in industrial controls and then Texas Instruments equipment engineering. I also have a strong computer science and information systems back ground. I guess in short there is little I can't build or get back working if possible. I also have small arms training and quite a bit of martial arts Judo and Shou Shu primarily. I know the stuff like first aid to the point of a first responder, rock climbing, I've ski dived solo, I know how to ride a horse ... and far more. My knowledge isn't as complete as I would like it. So I've sort of created myself a task of righting a book to include as many useful things that could be needed in the after math of any size event.

I went through a divorce about six years ago when I got sick from excessive work and stress. Your body and so on doesn't do well after 3 years of 2 hours sleep a night along with other issues. There's more to it, basically I had a massive amount of bad happen in my life at one time. Right now I am just trying to get my life back on track and find a productive use of my skills and knowledge.
