I left a good job in the city of Ottawa...gained a husband, a home, two gardens, two beautiful children, and the inner fisherwomen has found peace in the waters off the north shore of Lake Superior.
We are not yet off the grid; but our plan is actionable. We have water & food stores and practice sustainable living. 30 years of experience with grueling winters, (indoors and out of doors) has given us perspective...we think no, we feel we are living in the end of days.

The librarian in me would like to share this url. [yes I'll go post it in the right place as well]
http://www.homepower.com/

Edited to provide the url of the 🙄 Home Power website, formerly I was able to read magazine #23 online.
I suggest right click to 'open in new window'.

Hi there,
I am new to Northern Lake Superior, Canada and to this site. I am not entirely new to prepping but have so far been limited in what I could do due to working and living in an fortified compound in the Middle East. Now back in the real world and settled with my family I can work on some preps for uncertain times while enjoying this wonderful country and the amazing outdoor activities it offers.
Regards Jensen

Doe thanks very much for the link to Homepower.com. There is a lot here for anyone interested in solar power, wind power and microhydro power.

Hi All,

at present I am in Kilbirnie, North Ayrshire, Scotland but hope to spend more time in New Brunswick soon.

I bought a place on the Miramichi with 35 acres and my dream is to be self sufficient. My wife and I both have an interest in preparedness and hope we can contribute here and meet similar minded folks.

Best wishes and happy prepping to all

Magikmars

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. Wife and I just got into prepping back in the fall. Met some nice folks at the Truro meet and learned a few things.

Greetings to the members of this network. My username is Naka.I have decided to seek like minded people who wish to join forces to work together in case of disaster or other natural or manmade disasters.I have been collecting and saving things that I feel will be essential in all types of situations. After spending time on youtube and your forums I realize that things I need and require are much easier to find and acquire.I have been of the mind to bug out alone to a prepared site until now but as age takes its' toll I realize that I would be better off in a group setting.I have decided that ideally I hope to find a location in the Alberta foothills.I am a 62 year young Alberta born and raised farm boy who has spent the majority of my life around trucks and heavy equipment.I've owned and operated road building equipment and have also spent time with the teamsters through out western Canada and the territories. The last ten years have found me camped at a remote lake alone taking care of a half section owned by affluent people who have graciously allowed me to stay for free in exchange for maintaining the property in its' natural state.Anybody out there with a couple of million bucks?lol Spring fed clean lake with fish, fowl, deer, moose, mushrooms, berries and clean spring fed water available year round.A must in a bug out situation.(no farming contaminating the ground around) Any lawyers out there with experience in a term called "Adverse Possession Rules".I've got the ten years in.I'm sure I will be able to find what I am looking for in these forums.I've already read some fantastic posts about self-sufficient homesteads and well developed property's.I can see that this type of communication is much quicker than other types. One of my thoughts and potential fears is when those in the position of power decide to control or even shut down this medium.I have read that the present leader of our neighbor has already made attempts to do that very thing.I'm wondering if ham radio is being used as a back up by groups.Anybody know? I'd sure like to learn how to set up and operate a ham radio.TTFN from NAKA

Naka,

Welcome to the Forum. As you have already commented, there is a lot of information already posted, but it does take awhile to read through the topics that interest you.

By all means post your questions, if you cannot find the answers you seek.

Good luck finding a group. Your current land occupation situation sounds interesting. Sounds similar to the ghillies employed by wealth landowners in old Scotland, to keep the poachers of the lord's lands.

Cheers,

Mountainman.
