Hi, i'm new to posting online and also prepping. I'm about to start this week for myself and my babygirl. I could use all the advice i can get. I live in the Kingston Ontario area........ Most of the things i've been reading the last couple of days are for US products. Can anyone give me advice on what to start with and where to buy things? Theres alot of information out there, but its overwhelming and i'd hate to spend my money on things i don't need or that aren't very good quality.
Thanks so much!
Angel
Why Hello Ms. Pearl /// I have been following you personal blog (as well as several others) in the shadows for quite some time now /// Have finally decided to step out & put a voice to myself & am happy to now be a contributor /// I hope the recent flood of new members (myself amongst those numbers) equates to eyes wide open & willingness to speak up and share our communal knowledge given our accelerated state of global affairs /// While I don't want to say the end is nigh, one would have to agree things are getting pretty shaken up as of late...

My friends in the southern states call me Ms. Pearl 😆 love it 🙂 Nice to meet you!

Hi angelmommy - welcome to the world of prepping! There is a lot of information on these boards and sometimes it's hard to find at first. may I suggest you click on the "Board Index" tab at the top of each page - this will bring you to the Front Door (so to speak!) From there you can navigate to different topics.
You can also download the FREE manual from the LDS - see article and link here: http://www.canadianpreppersnetwork.com/2012/07/latest-lds-preparedness-manual-free.html
Please continue to ask questions and we'll do our best to help!

Thanks, Anita 🙂
Greetings, fellow preppers;
It is a pleasure to make your e-quaintance.
My name is Brian. I am a 42-year-old husband, father, Humanist and federal peace officer, born and raised - and currently living and working - just south of Muskoka, Ontario. I am relatively new to prepping in the general sense of the word, but was raised by preparedness-minded parents, and have extensive, specialized training and experience in several aspects of emergency preparedness & response...
Professionally speaking, I work as a correctional officer at a medium-security federal prison. In addition to my day-to-day security- and casework-related duties, I volunteer as a member/instructor of my institution's Emergency Response Team (ERT). I also instruct my colleagues in first aid (Red Cross) and "use of force" (self-defense, arrest & control, impact weapons, chemical & inflammatory agents, etc.). I love my job. 🙂
On a personal level, I have studied the mind, movement and martial sciences for over 25 years, and spend a fair bit of my "free" time teaching functional fitness, personal safety, self-defense and survival courses to men, women and youths throughout the province of Ontario. I am enthusiastic about all-things-emergency-preparedness, and "spread the love" to anyone who will listen.
My objectives in joining the 'Ontario Prepper Network' are to broaden and deepen my understanding of "prepping", round out my prepping knowledge and skills, network with like-minded individuals, and share with this group from my unique personal and professional skills and experiences.
At this point in time, my primary focus is on developing my 5-tiered personal preparedness system - aka. "The 5 P's":
1. Person (your psychological, physical & technical preparedness)
2. Pockets (your clothing, and what you carry in your pockets & on your belt every day)
3. Pack (your ever-present, all-important 72-hour "go-bag")
4. Pick-Up (your vehicle EP kit)
5. Place (your home- and/or retreat-based preps, for sheltering in-place)
If any of you share my enthusiastic interest in mental, physical & technical training, EDC gear, go-bags, vehicle kits and home preps, I'd love to hear your take on all of the above. I look forward to learning, sharing and growing with all of you in the months and years ahead. 🙂
Take good care - and prepare to prevail!

Hey P2P - welcome aboard! Looking forward to hearing more!

Hi everyone, my name is Glen, and I am from Kamloops, BC. It took me a while to actually join the network, but had been reading some great posts, and had a good vibe from the site. I`m wide awake, out of the matrix, and wanting to meet-up with like minded people in Kamloops, or surrounding area, for sharing and discussions. 7 generations of my family tree, are from the suswap/thompson area. I have multiple skills, and resources to share. I look forward to learning more, and teaching a few tricks on this forum. Hasta luego.
