Hi!

I sat looking at a lot of your articles as a guest and decided to join. I grew up and lived on a farm in Alberta most of my life. I am also an avid camper and can't wait for it to warm up to take my little one out again 😀 I am looking forward to learning more about homesteading, it is really nice to learn from others that are far more knowledgeable than myself.

campingmom,

Welcome.

In my opinion, camping is the best environment to train a youngster into the preparedness mindset. If you can camp in a tent or lean-to, you can adapt and survive in most environments. Good on you for passing that on to your child.

I am sure you will find plenty of information on here to help you. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please, post your questions. There are many on here who will know the answer.

See you around the Forum.

Cheers,

Mountainman.

Thanks for the Welcome!

My favorite time camping was when we took our old Thunderbird on some old trucking roads in the Shuswap area and found some crown land, we stayed out there for two weeks in a tent with another set of friends and our dogs. It was amazing... not a soul in sight for miles. We got to see the fireworks across the lake in Salmon Arm without having to be around all the partying. Smoked some excellent pork kabobs over a fire all day, delicious and still makes my mouth water. That is living 😀

Camping is awesome. I haven't taken my kids in a few years, but we have gone. I no longer have a car, but we have a place close by and my girls are old enough that we are going to pack up our stuff and bike there. I will get a used bike trailer in which to haul our gear and between that, my bike baskets, and our backpacks we should be fine. About a 30-45 minute ride and camping for a few days 🙂 Should be fun.

Smoking pork kabobs.......Is that what kids are calling it these days? Just kidding. Camping is great and it is good to see you are passing the passion along to the kids. Welcome to the forum.
