This post is just for fun...and sort of self congratulatory....ah, hell. Its just bragging.

I just needed a break from forking hay onto the back end of the garden as deep mulch to hold the ground (A future article ) so we can rotate crops , and more important to prepping,...never have to till the soil, ever again.

Of all my preps, nothing remotely compares, in value, than having a prepper partner. All the guns, gold and gas tanks in the world cant compare.

Mrs C5 and I did not hook up because of some romantic moment. In some ways, it was cold and clinical. We both understood a tough future was approaching. We both saw the value of what each brought to the apocalyptic table. We understood that we were married...even before we met in person.

This was put to the test early in the relationship. I had been crunching the numbers in my head for a few weeks before I put it on the line. With trepidation, concern over possible rejection, even facing that I might be forced to leave her behind, based on her response, I will always remembers saying to her, " Honey, You know that point I said was coming some time in our future....I think its beginning to happen now." Long story short...She believed me and our life plans rapidly shifted. Its sooooooooooooooo nice to not have a reluctant partner that rolls her eyes and thwarts the goals necessary for survival .

Our partnership was clinical (Surgical is probably a better word)....but its the weirdest things that make my heart go a pitter patter. Showing up with a case of Cheez Wiz without needing to explain. Not having to argue over dropping 15 hundred to have an expert recondition a 70 year old horse drawn hay cutter...even though we don't own a horse. Etc.

I read this short, cutesy apocalyptic article today and it gave me a laugh. I gave it to her to read as I am doing for you all, just for fun.

She read it, Snorted and said simply," Stupid article. Denial, " Turned and walked out, back to forking hay onto the garden in the blazing heat.

That's my girl. Pitter Patter goes my heart.

Back to forking hay, sweat and deer flies.

"How do I love thee - let me count the ways!" I love you wife's reaction and she sounds like a keeper. I read the article and thought - yes it had a humorous aspect to it but mostly that wasn't going to help people get prepared. I agree with Mrs. C - stupid article. Denial!

had a chuckle at the write up but I so disagree 😉

The real preppers were not at the store, shopping for anything.. they were at home (if not forced to leave it) getting their stores, their filters etc out and checked..

When a huge storm hits, how many of us really head out into it, we hunker down and if the amount of times folks have talked about it, we put our plans and preps to the tests to find out how they work in short term events in order to strengthen them later..

On the flip side, glad you have found the love of a good women who see's things very much like you do!

Awe, how nice to see you appreciate your partner ! You bet that is a huge addition to peace of mind as well as capability having a partner fully on board who will make their very best effort .

I did not take the article at all seriously either.

It's nice to have a partner that shares the same interest, especially with the way things are today.
As of today I've been married to that someone for 27 years.

C5 - She's a keeper alright, you're a lucky guy.

You're not alone in the "machine-but-no-horsepower" department. I have a hay baler that I have to borrow my neighbour's tractor in order to use.

I read the article and got the feeling that the author and his family will be no better prepared for the next flood (hurricane, tornado, snow storm, EMP, etc.).

I'm also trying to count my blessings albeit after "one of those days" (first, a dead lamb, then had to replant the part of the garden where the three year old seeds didn't come up, then mowed a rock and bent the lawnmower blade, then forgot my wallet when I went to town for said blade).

On the plus side, the potatoes are growing well, we have radishes out of the garden for in tonight's salad and stewed rhubarb with real cream for desert. And I keep $40 stashed for emergencies and that covered the blade.

Stay well and don't mow rocks.

Great post...enjoyed this a lot. Forwarded the link to my better half as well. We were talking about this sort of stuff when the floods in Calgary were raging at their peak... Yup, you got a good one C5!

Do you seriously have a working hay bailer? You and I need to work out a labour trade arrangement....

all the best...

And speaking of articles; I probably shouldn't write comments after 10:00pm after working all day in the heat.

What I meant was. "Good use of your time, we're all with you, bravo." Lee E.
