Think The Road was a real downer? This extremely low budget indie film is about as depressing as it gets. I declare it, the Ultimate Doomer Porn.

Take it away....22 After.

That's the point. No car chases. No epic shootouts. No heroes. No orgasmic climax. Zero entertainment factor. Just lonely people and a lot of suicides. I did mention, "Depressing" and "Low budget" 😉

Interesting sub-note. I read the comments which I don't often do. Author, Ron Foster (from the prepper road march series) was there. That's why we prep.

Also, the few commenters favorite movie quote. " We believed in the science that gave us flat screen TV's, but not in the science that said we were running out of oil and water".

Still, Like most of my ridiculous posts....I do this for the young newbies so they get some context and not think "prepping" is some fun adventure novel where they get to wear a cool uniform, shoot the bad guys and get the girl.

I also call this "Doomer Porn" for a reason. We prep and "Organise" to avoid living like this.

I agree with you again C5. Too many have the wrong idea of what prepping is all about and are misinterpreting that such things would be an adventure. We all sense there is bad times coming but this movie is far beyond even my imaginings. I hope that mankind overcomes our present state into a better future, but likely there are some rough roads ahead for all....I haven't gotten far into this movie either and can't say I'm into being bummed out by watching something so doom and gloom.

If things really do get that bad, we best start preying to God that he fixes our mess and forgives the majority of us not having the foresight to see this conclusion. But may he save a special place for all those who greedy buggers who did see this coming and misled the masses to follow this end anyways as it further filled their pockets!

Hey, Knuckle. Here is a thought for the theology minded. Its 3 am and I really should be sleeping. I no longer believe in "scripture" but scripture shows that god has made promises and then "repented" or changed his mind. I have always wondered about the belief that some chistians prideful boast that we can destroy what we like and god will save us in the end. What if god "repents" ands says "Fuck it. I made it. You burnt it. Nothing says, I hate god more than destroying what I created. Now, live with it...for ten thousand years...and stop trying to force the book of revelations to happen next week, you blasphemous prideful fools". Genetics shows, we have gotten down to only a few breeding females before. It might happen again....if the big G doesn't just say Fuck It and start all over from scratch transferring his promises to his next creation.
Could I possibly be a Doomer........LOL. Human "Repentance" takes on a completely different meaning at this point...like....the great commission is DONE....a thousand years ago. Good job, so long and thanks for all the fish. Now stop breeding , destroying stuff and actually live like Jesus, self sacrificing, and all that jazz.

must sleep sometime......

C5, You have such a way with words 😆

I can't proclaim to be religious and especially be a member of any given faith. I definitely would fit the class of "Fence Walker" better than most as I seem to be continually trying to hold the door open with one foot as I try to peer around every corner for better options... I don't even come close to meeting any of the requirements set forth in the Bible but do hope that if God truly exists (see, this is 1st requirement of a fence walker), he'll maybe lower the bar somewhat when he notes the tally is low at Armageddon. I do hope that my misdeeds are at least offset by those good deeds that I do for others in turn. If I were a true believer, I doubt I'd be walking the halls of this forum as I do.

I'd even like to believe that my presence here somewhat offsets those who forewarn others to believe it's every man for himself on this sinking ship. Rational thought should convince folks that this concept holds little appeal, yet many here seem to suggest this conclusion anyways by their comments. So how does one even attempt to change this line of thought? At least some do by showing others a direction to swim towards....

I see those who do just that here too!(yes, C5, I consider you somewhat an optimist too) 😉 They don't fill your head with total doubt and no way out, they show you a door and tell you what is required to maybe get there. I don't dwell too much on thoughts of doing battle with my fellow man as that opens doors which I would find hard to shut. I don't know if this is due to past military training or simply just having an aggressive nature from birth. I do know that it draws on the dark side of our human nature and this side is far harder to control once we open that door. Also, once this door has been opened, we tend to do less talking and therefore peaceful solutions are no longer on anyone's mind!

At least by preparing, we all have more options to choose from then those who didn't. But keeping in mind the thought that there is a line we shouldn't cross too easily (you know...killing...) because it will in turn destroy your humanity. Try not to lose your yourself in prepping so much that you believe all around you wish to take that which you stockpiled by force only. This "Doomer Porn" definitely doesn't offer any hope and can only feed that dark side we often try so hard to kill!

I liked it. A lot of the post apocalyptic shows out there have people running around in clean clothes, hair, etc..., and they spend enormous amounts of energy running around. Like they have unlimited access to food and water.
At least this video showed lots of people who actually looked like they hadn't showered, bathed or otherwise cleaned themselves up in a long time. They also weren't all full of energy. They looked exhausted and didn't have aspirations higher than eating something. I didn't take the video to be prophetic in any way. I took it to be one person's vision of what the end of western civilization would look like. Murder, suicide, rape, and brutality in every respect are a part of this vision. I don't think I necessarily learned anything from watching it. I'm not sure I would even recommend it to anyone. As others have said, it's very dark, and I try to stay in the light as much as possible.

Interesting replies from people. I really was just pointing out an obscure film that I didn't think most would find. LOL. The doomerist of doomer....being all doomy. Like most fiction, it gives you the ability to see potential problems and figure out how to solve them. example. In this very likely scenario (unstoppable feedback loops that lead to Near term extinction)All the people could have benefitted from leadership and organisation. Maybe a few Heros that demonstrate hope and cooperation. The survivalist group in the film actually complained about there lack of it.

This might be a good opportunity if anyone wants to talk about Guy Mcpherson. One of the more gloomier prophets of doom.

Naw, it's too easy to see what possibly could happen in today's unstable world without having to consider the lesser doomsday scenarios. 😀 I think it would be nice to only have to fear ecological destruction with mother nature as our only adversary. This obviously isn't enough challenge so we must increase the risk by adding in war, disease, terrorism and others to keep it at that unmanageable state of mind! 😕
