In Rouge's post there was a link to NOAA Space Weather Prediction Centre. This is a good site, another one that I like is Spaceweather.com. It has all kinds of information on solar flares, CME's, asteroids, meteors and more. The link is http://www.spaceweather.com/ .

Sometimes I really have to wonder about 2012 and its approach.

In light of the recent release of Israel's new "Iran Attack Plan" and particularly their ideology about waiting until after the November election in the states to launch an attack so that Obama will be free to join the meley one has to question if it is a plan or just propaganda and bravodo.

Many have speculated, contrary to the atomic threat, that Iran’s declaration of not dealing in USD and selling their oil for the Euro and Yen didn’t seal a fate that is underway and being planned by our neighbouring centurions right now. Waiting for after the Novemeber election only makes too much sense. So does the need for the American’s to protect their dollar and it’s world standard that is in most part based on an oil sales monopoly in USD. The atomic threat, not so much a real-time threat, but neither did the Weapons of Mass destruction present a real-time threat that sealed the fate of Iraq after their dictator started selling his oil exclusive of the USD in the Oil for Food plan. America certainly didn’t finance their war with Iraq oil as predicted, but they did sit on the taps and ensure that oil sold would be sold with the USD after they took over the country.

I’m not much on online conspiracy theories but can we really justify Our actions, the actions of the United States and France attacking Libya when so few (civilian) protestors took to the streets while in Syria thousands have died and we’ve done nothing. I followed that rising conflict closely and don’t think for one moment that we went in to free the will of civilians who wanted to seek democracy. I don’t even consider it was a civilian uprise. I studied it from day one and still research it today.

Could it be that Kadafi was sponsouring the creation of a Northern African alliance that would deal explicitly in the Dinar and not USD for oil as well? You would only need to look at the associations between Harper and our Suncor Corporation dealing in Libya to understand the “need” to protect “our” interest there and the French have heavily invested in North Africa since the second world war.

The idea of late December being a huge turning point in our history and our futures may not be so far off the mark. With the constant support of China and Russia for both Iran and Syria our involvement (NATO)with our waring neighbours might seal a pact that could create another global conflict. Could we hope to stay out of it if our neighbours went in?

Regardless, prepping food stalks and basics is prudent, there are many real threats that could warrant rationing and shortages coming our way both with war and current droughts.

" Same reason they went into Iraq as you said. It is all smoke and mirrors to allow the corporations to get what they want.

Used to think war was out of necessity rather than convenience. Oh sure we can wait till whenever your ready. Ya, real desperation and fear of an attack from Iran.

Well the threats aren't being made by Iran, they're being made by Israel against Iran. Israel wants an assurance that if they attack the US will support them. Israel is reluctant to attack (so they say) because they don't know if they can count on Obama's support. It would political suicide if Obama were to commit the US to another Middle Eastern conflict prior to being re-elected in November. Once he's re-elected he has carte blanche.

Today a Senator stood to say that Congress is being bypassed because Obama is dictating the US into war through their affiliation with NATO and therefore not allowing Congress the right to vote on American invovlement in foreign conflicts. That's exactly what Obama did when he committed the American NATO forces to attack Libya, affectively by-passing Congress.

I've always been cautious of the American super power but it's really questionable about who the world aggressors are - who really are the terrorists on foreign soil? I suppose it depends on which side of the barrel you're standing.

Fact is though, it really isn't necessarily about the politics, it's more about knowing that as an individual that you're prepared for the events that are unfolding around us.

I think if you go back through History you will find that most wars were at base about econimics and trade. A continuation of diplomacy by other means as they say. Difference was that it was a NATIONAL economic strategy and outcome that was determined and protected. Now it is clearly corporate interest that is put forth and consolidated at the expense of those who fall for Government propaganda. The US has always had a policy of economic and political control to further their own interests even if it was completely against the democratic choices of other countries. So much for American "Freedom".

Question Justabear:

It certainly was protecting corporate investment going into Libya for both Canada and France. There is no doubt about that, however with the American involvement in Middle Eastern oil producing states I really believe it's about trying to protect the integrity of the American dollar as a global currency standard. For the past thirty years since they deregulated their dollar away from the gold and sterling standard they have put the printing presses to maximum with nothing but the global currency standard they hold to back their wet and dripping greenbacks. If they lost their designation of the currency standard they would bankrupt in an hour with no avenue for recovery.

I totally believe that because Europe, Asia and the Middle East as well as South American countries are hedging on dropping the American currency standard (the worst affect being that they traded in other currencies for oil) that the States are in a position where they have no choice left but to protect the integrity of their dollar standard by waring to protect it. That is totally what I think we've seen developing over the past twelve years.

@Rogue.. I agree completely with your statement. Just wonder how it is all going to work out.. IE when is it going to fail and over what time period... slow or fast. Next big war will be econimic and cyber... drop like dominos

Good question and of course we can only speculate. I haven't over the past couple of decades come to the point of saying that I thought we were actually beginning the process that would lead to a third world war and there have certainly been a lot of situations that might have warranted that speculation.

A couple of years ago I was in my living room with a couple of other folks actually talking about the Middle East when Bhutto was asassinated. It came across the ticker tape on BBC that she had died. I knew (even though the media wasn't being outright) shed' been assassinated. It was in that moment I said that is the moment that the time clock was punched on the countdown to the third war. It has never ceased to amaze me how the entire American security world has never, and never probably will acknowledge the importance of Pakistan in middle east stability. They do, that's why they went into Afghanistan but did they do what they needed to do directly to control it. No. They needed to focus on the other side of the Kyber pass, and I don't think they really knew just how much Pakistani militants influence the middle east. They sure do now, but it wasn't until they found Bin Ladin that they really started to understand who their allies and enemies are. Bhutto was the greatest hope to influence that and that is also why she didn't come to power.

I'm in my mid fifties and have always kissed the ground we stand on because we have been so fortunate to avoid our parents, grandparent's and great grandparent experiences of war. I contribute it to them that we have been that fortunate. I always thought that in my lifetime I would be blessed enough to not see a similar situation. I have no confidence in that any longer. My concern actually isn't self-directed. I will do everything in my power and means to ensure that the members of my family avoid the negative involvements of a world conflict, whatever that takes. Honestly when I prepare it is for those reasons above and beyond all others.

I can't bring myself to believe that a world conflict would be fought on our soil, but that doesn't mean that it wouldn't have huge negative affects on the people of this soil.

When TSHTF, will we know who the enemy is or was, will it be a foreign government, the country next to us or our own. Will be controlled to fight by the New World Order, or the Illuminati. We may never know, all we can do is to try to prepare for what ever is thrown our why.

I'm not too certain about all that Ranger however the advent of social networks and electronic media have certainly helped in some respects to better inform peoples of nations than the opportunities they had prior to the last two great wars.

In both wars (due to our affiliations with Britain) we entered the wars in the beginning while the Americans sat back and prospered building their industry selling to those wars. It wasn't until well into those wars that the American soldiers entered those wars, came into the front stepping over the dead bodies of our soldiers to "claim their victory". OOOOppps did I just say that out loud?

I might be an enigma as a Canadian, but I'm more than welcome to sit back and let them take the torch and run with it this time. After all, I personally consider they're the ones that lit the torch and threw it out there in the first place. Just my opinion of course.

Well if a war ever comes here we are screwed thanks to our gun laws. Long guns and a handful of handguns are not going to cut it. Never mind the magazine capacities. We Canadians are sitting ducks.

All hail the military industrial complex. I have said it before and I will again. If there were no willing people in the world to join a military then there would be no war. The citizens are to blame since we give governments power to do whatever they want. We don't get a vote on any important issues, they are all imposed on us by judges. The system is a joke, both political and financial.

That is interesting subject. That is the reason we are prepping.I agree with Rogue that through out history there was always talk about the "END". like first world war ,second.assassinations, natural disasters and so on.The different is that at present all is happening at once .Economic collapse .war like newer before, natural disasters are more frequent and powerful , overpopulation and every thing is coming at full speed. The most powerful people in the world are warning us but very few people are hearing. It is easier not to hear so you don't have to do anything about it .I am pretty sure next few (3-4) month are critical .That is why i do not understand people saying "i am PLANING to buy land or something .WHEN???.
