I'm quite new to the prepping game. Quite frankly, I haven't done anything except watch a lot of Doomsday Preppers and know I am interested in the topic and would like to finally do something. The problem is, there aren't many other interested people in Quebec.

Ideally, I would love to secure a location with other people that is secure and is stockpiled with a lot of necessary items. I am mid 30s, would contribute financially as well as whatever else it requires. I am very athletic and think I could offer you or your group a very creative and active mind/body to the cause.

If you are setting this up, have already started, and are near the border ( I am west island Montreal with a car) please contact me. Thanks!

Hey mtlcruisin,
why don't you try to make it to the Ottawa group meets when we stat back up.
We could meet there and even try to get some of the other Montreal area members interested...there are a couple others.

Ottawa is 2 hours away, I was hoping I'd find people within a 45m-1hour ride away. But, I'd probably just go in case some people from the Ottawa area live possibly closer to Montreal. Could be a good idea, there really isn't much interest from Montrealers, and we have 3.3m people about. Doesn't make sense!

I'm of the opinion that preppers from Montreal and Ottawa who don't have rural land of their own should seek out retreats in the surrounding farm country. At the very least they should contribute to the maintenance of a secure cache of supplies they can access in the event of a grid failure. City and country alliances can be mutually beneficial. I'd be interested in facilitating these kinds of partnerships.

When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fail, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.

Ottawa613 , I would be interested. Montreal is not an ideal BOL to setup shop in. It would need to be like you said a retreat outside of any city area. I would love to meet other people in the Montreal/Ottawa or Ontario border to do this with. I can contribute as much as I can in every aspect. Let me know how to reach you!

There are a couple viable ways to approach this...
1 - look for old country homes for sale. There will be quite a few coming up soon. These will likely need some work, but you will have structure and if you're lucky, artesian well and septic. Usually, these will be ready to go, or almost, with a little work.
2 - look for bare land. You could use a travel trailer if need be and then slowly build. The downside would be water and septic. Although water can be dealt with by installing a collection system, septic could be an issue. Most municipalities will have strict guidelines for installing a septic system and will require one to build a house. With a property large enough and secluded enough, an outhouse could be built without much issue, just use your head when locating it.
