I just bought one of these. It's amazing. It will pretty well grind anything. For those of you that want to bring your own wheat, corn or even make nut butter. Than check this out.

Is it made of hard plastic? I looked at the Country Mill but I would rather have the Diamant Grain Mill but both are priced it too rich for my blood.

I looked at the wondermill line , but went for the country grain mill.

I keep it setup along with my hand flaking machine. I bought my flaker online , a KOMO brand
http://store.fieldstoneorganics.ca/komo-flocino/

Of which what am I doing today ? Doing a test of baking
a loaf of FROZEN loaf dough I have been meaning to try . It is still raising, ......... 🙄 .........
If it works , I will add some of them to the freezer.

The wondermill is made of cast steel or aluminum coated with a non chip paint. It's very tough. Steve bearings and an optional drill bit attachment. You can change from grinding stones to steel burrs and grind oily grains or nut butters. I bought mine on ebay. In total with shipping and taxes it was $240. Here is a video of a guy grinding rocks and abusing it and it stands up.

After reviewing all mills out there I settled on the wondermill because of its strength and versatility and size. But if you purchase one. Make sure you buy the "wondermill jr. Deluxe". The deluxe version comes with both sets of stones. Or the stones and burrs.

The country grain mill is a good mill. But for half the price and in my experience a more versatile and better for a prepper I bought the wondermill jr deluxe. The wondermill has real stone as the grinding wheel, is lighter, stronger and above all grinds faster than any other mill. I would love to hear what you have to say about the country mill.

Thank you for the details on the wondermill. The price is about half of the country grain mill.

I got the Country Living grain mill some time ago. Love it although there are some reasonable and comparable mills in this thread to compare it to:

http://store.countrylivinggrainmills.com/grain-mill/

Now get 100 pounds of wheat from the LDS cannery and you'll always be the local bread bartering guy when shtf...

And since were talking about hand grinding machines this is next on my list:

https://www.piteba.com/index.html

It's an oil expeller with many possibilities.

Medicinal properties from plants...
Essential oils...
And fuel for my car any type of seed...

Now it that funny but I have 2 old meat grinders and never thought much about them other than use them and hate cleaning them. One is cast iron and the other is stainless. Both are older than me! My dad was a butcher..... http://www.chinatraderonline.com/home-appliance/Meat-grinder/staliness-steel-meat-mincer-141656353.htm

The old one my mother used for bread crumbs as it rusts easy. What can I say...They work. My sister took the electric one! 🙁 But I got the meat slicer. 😛

OK .. package had x3 frozen dough rolls for $ 3.00

I took 1 of 3 rolls out of freezer at noon and it is now in the oven at 9:30
It was probably ready at 9 PM but was busy . I don't keep my house hot, so that will add time.
It suggested 7 hours.

It is now baking at 350' as per directions . Just checked and it is looking pretty good .
I should get more of these.

I checked out that oat roller. Pretty cool. How does it work?

You buy whole OAT GROATS and just put them in and turn the handle.

However, I am buying the newer whole NAKED oats, to get the most nutrition
as the naked oats do not get hulled in processing, so you get all the nutrients.
http://canadiannakedoats.com/products.htm

And you can also grind these into flour also .

You can also flake other type of whole grains , but I just use it for flaking OATS

Bulk barn has something called Cavena Nuda which are the newer naked oats
you can read about Cavena Nuda here:
http://mysmartfoods.com/

You can buy online from a few places in Canada, but you need to phone to make sure
they are the naked oats , ( unless you want the hulled less nutritious groats )
I get mine from OakManor place below , and when I phone they say they are naked oats
however the description says hulled. when in fact they are not really. So you really have to
phone each time, because you never know if they have subsituted 1/2 way through the winter.

http://oakmanorfarms.ca/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=48_51&products_id=119

This place also has them, but you have to phone, as online they don't list the naked oats.
http://fieldstoneorganics.ca/products/organic-whole-grains/oats.php

I bought in bulk last time the 12kg bag, and put up in smaller packages with the foodsaver and put them in the freezer.

That oil expeller sure is cool.
I'm kinda baking bread today too. Well getting the wheat cleaned and dried. I'll grind it tomorrow and by tomorrow night I'll have 3 loaves of whole wheat bread. Nothing like a loaf of bread that only cost you $0.25.

Those old meat grinders are great. I have one too never gave it much thought until now. Guess I'll have to dig it out.

I buy all my oats at the feed store. Bought a 40 kg bag for $18.
They are the full oat. Not hulled. But they have to be cleaned and dried. But if you don't mind a bit of work then you can buy the healthiest food at penny's per pound.

I think the best superfood that I have found so far is Chia seeds. Look it up you will find some really cool stories. I'm starting to look for a good source for chia seeds.
