In June I created a Topic called "Seeking Preppers in Southern Ontario". Strength in numbers for security was my motivation.
http://internationalpreppersnetwork.net/viewtopic.php?t=5046
What came out of that was a few public meets where I got to meet some fantastic people enthusiastic about their prepping and very knowledgeable and experienced in both prepping and in life skills.
I also found a few very likeminded people with similar prepping goals and concerns. We have since met on numerous occasions to hash out a strong framework for a Prepping Group in the Niagara Region. We all prep individually as families and are in the process of working out contingency plans and ways of alternative communication etc. So much work to do still. We now have a joint plan for a shtf emergency. A plan which I presume will be similar to most groups plan if they don't already live in a suitable Bug Out location. We don't. Dictated by work arrangements and social engagements we are where we are now and we plan from that perspective.
We are actively looking for members to join our prepping group. The key word for us in any Group Forming is the right fit. Not in your firearms collection, your number of sheep or chickens, your extensive years of prepping and seemingly know it all life experience. There will be no judging. We all started somewhere from no resources or knowledge and a group needs dynamic and variety. The single criteria is fit. If you are unable to talk to us when we meet, your habits are annoying, you are unable to participate in a discussion without belittling others or you judge others by your own perceived standards then you are probably not the right fit. If we have to live together in a shtf situation we need to have some likeness towards each other in the group :). We have some good skills already in the Group but we need stronger skills such as Medical Skills, Mechanical and Building Skills in the group. Together we will determine the best course of action and preps to have on hand based on our current situations. Activities would be planning meetings, sports shooting at the range, hunting and fishing trips, theoretical lessons, practical lessons in different skills that needs to be trained or cross trained and maybe a weekend or two a year to get away and camp out with some fun activities. Most will be Team building activities to bond the group members. So expect some commitment in activities but with the tie in that if you are unable to participate that's okay. We all need to live our normal lives. Prepping is NOT a way of life. It is an insurance for us.
In closing I would like to say anyone is welcome to come out and meet other preppers. We have invited preppers from other forums, outside this forum and from this forum not involved in our group to open up communication and for sharing experiences, for forming of groups, building networks etc. This needs to happen now. In a shtf trust is going to be limited to a few close people and if we are going to establish bartering, info sharing and mutual helping other groups out in a shtf situation these connections should be made now. You do not have to join our Group to participate we are just taking the initiative to get people together with the aim of establishing networks now.
If you are interested we are planning this Meet on Wednesday November 26th in the evening start around 19.00. PM me if you are interested and I will send meeting details to everyone on the Monday or Tuesday before.

Yes you are welcome even if you live in Burlington, Hamilton etc :). Although the geographical description says Niagara Region it is open for all who wants to come along.
Meeting details sent to interested members of this forum and to others on similar forums. Here is hoping for a great meet - Fun, sharing and productive 🙂
Wish I lived closer, would love to attend!!!!!
LOL !. I hear you. Should you ever be down in the neighbourhood then feel free to meet up with us. Just send us a PM and we will meet up with you 🙂
Thanks for the offer. There seems to be no interest in get togethers of any kind in this area. We do have a few close friends that are preppers. One young couple just moved here from the coast. They are trying so hard to get ready for winter, but got here to late to get much firewood in. They only have about 4 cords, which is not near enough
when one heats exclusively with wood. They will be here this afternoon to buy some wood from us. They already have an order in for 3 3 cord loads of wood for next year. The wood is their only shortfall, so just had to help them.
Later, KK
