we all know no matter how hard we try if sh@t hit the fan and something does happen that us the people that have been prepping will start running low on food and at some point you will need to start finding food to feed you and your family and in some cases your family and others.
building a rollnet there many ways to build a rollnet my grandfather and father use to put a rollnet in the water near the shore but totally covered in water placing it close to shore help make it easyer to pull the net out of water ! now dont build a rollnet to try it out and see how it works just trust that it will work plus if the MNR finds out you could get yourself in a lot of trouble and lose everything.
but if the time comes and your trying to feed your family or other as well you could pull as many as a hundred fish if not more depending on the size of the net you build but remember you have to be able to get the net back out of the water and if it a really big rollnet and you happen to get a lot of fish it going to be really hard to get your rollnet and fish out of the water cause it to heavy to left out or move.
and to help get the fish in your net hang rotton meat or old rotton fish fish gutts and hang it right in the middle of the rollnet..on a wire so it keep the bait in the centre of the net..
during the spring time you could be eating salmon, trout,walleye, perch, during the off season when these fish return to deeper water you will start seeing more sun fish, blue gill, crappie, crap, mullet, catfish and all of these are good fish to eat you would be shock and most people would be able to tell if they where eat any of the last four fish i talk about cleaned right and cooked right you would never know unless told..
you dont need all kinda of fishing equipment to feed a lot of people this is only one way of many to get good numbers of fish, with out fishing rods and a box of lures..

Nice post Sarniaprepper. It sounds like you know what you are talking about ;). I Just had another thought if the SHTF there will not be any slot size or limits. I could live with that.
Your right there won't be a slot limit but only taking what you need or can use,now that would be the smart thing to do.
When SHTF I am going to t-shirt fish because it won't be illegal then...lol...and build those little stick traps too...lol...and tickle their belly
Well there other ways that are easy as well call "night lines" used them a lot when I was a kids but a roll net will get you good number of fish !
Night line all you need is a few sticks 10 or 20 about 4 to 8 feet long then add about 20 feet of fishing line to each stick by tying the line about 2 or 3 feet down the stick roll it up on the stick near the bottom 6 feet of line add to hooks right to the line and then add some type of sinker to the very end of line leave 2 feet between hooks .
Then all you have to do is shove one end of the stick Into the shore or river bank or even in shallow water toss the line out baited check it the next day ! Lol
Used them a lot as a kid and there where always fish on the line or hooks that the bait hadn't been taken but 95% of the time there one or two fish on each line.
It just show you having a spool of fishing line and some hook in you bug out back pack or even as a needed tool !.
