I am going up on the Friday. Anyone interested in meeting for dinner in Ottawa on the 12th
I will be at the campgrounds for a visit on the night of the 12th and again for the evening on the 13th.. There are a few folks in Ottawa that as far as I know are coming for the Saturday extra visiting time only so hopefully one of them will enjoy a extra visit with you or depending on what is happening, do consider coming out to the camping site as well 🙂
Hey all,
I'll try to make it if I get the day off work. Look forward to meeting everyone so hopefully I get it off 🙂
Hi all,
I will try my best to make it but I am waiting to see if I can have the weekend off of work. I hope I do get it because I would like to meet everyone 🙂
Oldschool, I'd be up to meet on the 12th evening. I likely won't be camping overnight the Fri or Sat..

UPDATE ON CAMPING ARRANGEMENTS
As many of you know after the event on Saturday folks are invited to extend their visit and stay the night at a camping site near Larose Forest. We originally were looking at using Paradis camping but unfortunately they were not able to offer group camping (only individual sites). Therefore we have opted to go with Whispering Pines Campgrounds which is a more secluded and private location only 20 minutes from Larose Forest. They offer not only group camping but their rates are far more reasonable. The rates are $10 per person, per night (payable on arrival) as opposed to $35 to $45 a night at the other place (payable immediately). I believe 2 children accompanied by 2 adults under the age of 14 are free (but you may wish to confirm this with them). And folks can check in on the Friday or Saturday morning at 9am and check out is at 9pm on Sunday. It does however, have fewer conveniences like running water at the campsite itself, (drinking water is available at a centralized location) and there is no hydro hook-ups on the site. But as preppers this should not pose a problem. It could actually be fun.
I have already received confirmation from a few folks that they will participate at the camping event. I already booked the place but I would very much like to know if we have others that might be interested in joining us for the evening. Pm me or Farmgal if you think this interests you.
Here is the link.

Are these strictly tent sites or is there space for a 24' trailer?
Trailers are allowed however there are no electricity or running water hookups on the site. Water is available at the central public areas..
Just to confirm I spoke directly with the owner of Whispering pines and they will place our group in an area that we can bring our cars and trailers directly on site. I know we have at least 2 folks that have confirmed they will be bringing their trailers (one 27 ft and another at 24 ft) and their is absolutely no problems with bringing these on site.
Hi Folks,
Regardless of if you are coming from near or far, or if you have been coming for year or this is your first time.. the lineup this year is Grand..
Pruning Workshop.
Laura will be talking about pruning, she will be covering pruning for fruit production, in regards to both hard and soft fruits.
This will be a combo of both verbal,-viewing and a small amount of hands on.. I will be bringing enough extra branches, that if you want a quick turn on the pruners, it should be possible..
Laura is highly trained in regards to all things horticulture, and runs a local company and offers paid training classes locally to the Ottawa valley an area.
As a added side note, not only will the focus be on pruning for higher yields, we will also cover pruning to create starts off older plants and creating your own wee babies, and increase your garden at very low cost.

Is there a cost to get for a face to face at the camp ground on the Sat night?
I think I am loosing my mind. I could have sworn that there was a partial line up of the presenters in this thread and now I can't find it. 😥

Thanks for that info...not sure if we will do the camping thing yet, but we are going to be there for sure!
It would be nice if you could stay the night but will totally understand if you can't. P.s. The kids could test out their fishing rods as there is a place they can throw their lines in and there is a pool, beach, trampoline and a play structure for the kids. Just saying.
Now thats weird I just posted a response to oldschool and it doesnt seem to appear on the site. Oh well.
If you are interested in joining us around the camp fire for a chat and refreshment and cant stay overnight to camp you can buy a $3 day pass.
I too thought I posted a draft agenda of the event but I will have to check to be sure. If not, I will post it shortly.
That is odd, I swear we put up a write up on the speakers as well.. we will get that looked at, thanks for letting us know!
