Has anyone bought one of those fire pits with a screen cover and cooking grill ?

I am thinking they would be a worthy addition for a SHTF situation for
heating rocks , burning small amount of rubbish , smoking things etc.

I do already have a rocket stove.

I am looking at a firepit that can take wood or charcoal, and has a proper screen lid, and a
cooking grid. Some areas don't allow these unless they have the screened lids and
can be used for cooking.

Not sure of all the ins and outs, or if they are useless.

I have one that though not specific for cooking, would I a pinch with slight mods. It was affordable at about $90. I take good care of it and keep it in the shed unless in use. I find most of them cannot stand the elements and rust way to easily if not kept indoor.

Yes I think that will be what I do, keep it in the garage when not in use.
Not sure if something like a layer of cornstarch will further help to keep it dry as even
garages while not in the foul weather, do get damp.

If you don't store it wet, it shouldn't be an issue.
