this year was the first year with a real garden. last year i have a late (due to wet spring weather) a 100sq foot garden that had almost nothing worth while in it. my corn had smut, my tomatoes died, my carrots never got pulled, my peas did great. . . last year i also planted 2 apple, 2 pear (four in one) and two cherry trees. in the winter i trimmed up 5 of the 10 or so old apple trees to see if i could get producing better. . . (but that early warm spell then the normal may frost, i only have 4 apple trees with fruit)
then this year. garden 500 sq feet, plus another 300 sq feet around the property. a small bed for potatoes, i did two cages of potatoes (video that gave me the idea http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GO-EHfWgh4o ) i have a raised bed of lettuce and spinach by the barn, 5 more raised beds on the main yard, (wife ain't happy about her lawn being taken over 😡 ) 2 raised beds of fruit canes/bushes, 3 still not sure what i'm going to use them for yet. (rotation vs permanent home for something) i've planted 4 more apple trees, 1 pear, 1 cherry, 2 plum, i've started cuttings for many new trees, a couple weeks old and still alive 😀 i've planted a few raspberries, black berries, and some currents, i've got one elder berry bush/tree. . . and found out that "this plant thingy" in the flower garden is a goose berry bush.
i've got a number of railing planters on the deck now, growing a lot more lettuce and some spinach,.
put in 4 sand cherry bushes, and i'm debating putting in more fruit trees this year, the sale price is pretty sweet right now
i started with a lot of tomatoes, the tiny tims are doing great. lost a few, but the ones i have left are doing "WOW" some have over 2 dozen tomatoes on them. big beefs are doing great, sweet millions are in pots and doing "great" as well. bob cats died and the few that made it are not so hot.
my yukon gold potatoes are growing huge tubers, i can't keep up with them, and the gold rush are healthy but not nearly as tall. i'm either going to have a lot of potatoes, or just a lot of tubers with the other ones though. we'll see. (cage potatoes are doing the same as the row planted taters)
beans are beans and doing fine, peas are great, carrots are hit and miss, some grew others didn't. still in the ground so i'm not sure about the final verdict.
the green house is still not built, the barn is an utter mess. . . i'm glad i still have a lot of time before the snow comes because i have a lot to do.
hope everyone is doing well, and i hope to be around a little more.
back to work tomorrow 😛 i need a break lol

I'm worn out just reading it entropy, good for you.
Harvest sounds even busier.
My garden this year sounds like his last year, and the wives are the same also (you planted what in my garden? 👿 ).
"We 'Prep.' to live after a downfall, Not just to survive."
well i lost control 30% off isn't the best deal on trees i got this year, but they were priced low to start with.
i picked up 4 more pear trees, 1 apple and another cherry. of course by the time i got home and planted the last two sand cherries, i was done 😕 i have more rocks in my ground then i have bugs and grains of sand/dirt combined 😈
i moved some rocks that were more then i thought i could lift. . . others i had to play the thinking game with, lever it up, put rocks under it, lever it up, put rocks, did that about 9 times before i could roll it out of the hole. . . i got it almost all the way over then i couldn't get it any more, so i have a neat little rock formation in the garden (the garden kinda goes around it at that point lol)
it's a good thing i don't eat meat, because next year it's going to be a fat time with fruit!!!
