Hello All,
After hours of looking, Hidden Valley is the place for the meet on June 2nd. I was thinking of a start time of 11:00am or 1:00pm?

- the main subject will be "food". It can be food prep, storage, cooking, anything that deals with food.
- the will also be a show and tell of other goods that you may want to bring
- if you have anything that you would like to trade or sell, please post it in this thread in order to give people an idea. That way people can ensure they have the funds if needed.
- I was hoping to do something with first aid but I am lacking in ideas. I am hoping to bring a few samples of plants or natural remedies that I use

Secret June Santa - just an idea - one small item under $20.00 put is a plain non see through bag or container to give.

Due to the shelter lacking much space, could someone bring a tarp with poles in case we need to put one up? If not I will go buy the stuff needed.

Since I live closer then some, I will be bringing a cooler with drinks. Sorry no pop just water, and ice tea. If the meet starts at 11:00am, I will also bring some picnic type foods Any diet needs please let me know.

I have sent an email to reserve the area of the park that is on the other side of the foot bridge just off the parking lot. Since I just sent the email today, I doubt I will hear back until the beginning of next week. The spot is right next to this building: http://www.flickr.com/photos/67781002@N05/6316528670/?q=hidden%20valley%20burlington

I thought this was a preppers meeting?
Wouldn't this be a great chance to get that stuff out of your car kit for a test run?
You know, fire up (and show off) your emergency stove, dig in to your stores for those soup, iced tea mixes and hot chocolate packs?
Rotate out that water for a fresh batch?
I might be inclined to bring some Biltong to share .... cool prepper food.

Those who don't have a kit might get some ideas how simple it can be...... or incentive to get one before.

Or course you are correct. I get a little carried away as you can see.

This is your show Oldschool. Don't let me or anyone else tell you how to run it. I just don't think you should throw a party for everyone at your expense.

Not yet anyway 😀

I don't want it to be "my show". It want it to be everyone's. That is the reason for the different times. I didnt know if 11:00 would be too early.

The offer on the picnic type food is because I just bought a lot of pasta for 88 cents a bag and tuna for 99 cents a can
10lb bag of potatoes on sale $1.99
🙂

I hope there are going to be a lot of people. I just received the application to reserve a spot . I will be filling it out and sending it in. After looking at the map, I discovered that there is a whole section of the park that I missed 😳

"We do permit 6 different areas in Hidden Valley Park. With a permit for one of these areas, you are granted exclusive use of this area and have the right to deny others to use this area as public space. While with a small group, you may prefer to just chance your luck and try to make use of an area without a permit, but anyone permitted for these areas take priority over the use of these areas. I have attached our picnic application form for your reference."

The rules:

PLEASE NOTE:
• Open fires and large BBQ pits are not permitted. Bring your own hibachi or portable barbecue. Please dispose of the charcoal in the hot ash recepticles.
• Dogs must be on a leash at all times. The City Parks By-law states you must clean up after your dog.
• Help keep Burlington parks beautiful by not littering. If park receptacles are full, please use garbage bags.
• Alcohol beverages are not permitted in municipal parks.
• Amplified music, PA systems, megaphones, tents and generators, are not allowed.
• On-site electrical service is NOT available.
• Fireworks are not permitted.
• No unauthorized vehicle access outside the designated parking area this will be enforced as per City policies.
• Ice cream/hot dog vender type vehicles are not permitted.
• No preparation or sale of food in parking lot.
• Food sales subject to Halton Health
Department approval. Use of the park is subject to City of Burlington by-laws as amended and enforced as per City

The spot I would like to book is picnic area 3. I have sent an additional email to find out if that spot is available and no one else has gotten a permit for it. So what do I call our organization on the application?

I was sitting here "sobbing in my teacup"...ACK...that weekend is booked for a big sleepover here at the farm. My daughter walked in and said : MOM just change the sleepover...OHHHH what a GREAT IDEA - so 40 unsuspecting people's schedules are gettin' rearranged cuz I wanna come to Oldschools Reunion!

Food & Water - check.
Secret Santa - check.
Something to show you - thinking about that one...probably can't smuggle a lamby into the park without getting into trouble...then again you might think he's THE food 😆
Something to share - check check check.
Directions - check.
Chairs - bring chairs...check.
Portabe skype for Susannah755 - not sure I can pull that off but wouldn't that be fun!

Thinking happy thoughts about meeting you all in person - and y'all better be nice 😯

Does anyone want any lemon balm plants? I think it's lemon balm, it looks like it, tastes like it but I did not plant it and it's taking over my back yard. Not sure what size pots I have to put them in but the plants are a good size.

Can't make it to Hidden Valley, just too far out. But the eastern Ontario meeting near Navan works well.
