Just thought it might be good to share if you have learned anything new and if it was self taught.
My mom was feeling well enough on Sunday to teach me how to make gourd containers for food storage, drinking cups and bowls. I will bring a few items to the meet to show.
Well I charged up a battery in my lawn tractor without blowing it up! I used a battery charger set to 12A (??) for about 45 minutes, then disconnected it and it fired right up after sitting all winter. Some of you guys might think that this is pretty fundamental, but not for me - it was a real learning curve.
I also "re-calibrated" my personal Electricity 'time of use' clock to match Hydro One: most expensive in North America between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Glad your Mom is feeling fine Oldschool.
Last week I learned how to tune a chainsaw carburator. The saw was given to me and had not been started for at least a decade. Went on youtube and picked up a few tricks and got it running in no time. Now this is my #1 saw!
This week, I'm playing around with sourdough. I have 2 starters going and made my first loaf today. It was a bit heavy, but i think I know how to fix that.
Patience. Everyday I learn to be more patient. lol
This week I did learn how to make a cargo style net. It seems easy but it isn't as easy as it looks (it can become confusing). I made a small one (3feet by 3 feet) and a larger one (6 feet by 10 feet that was scooped already... grrrrr). I am going to try and make a few out of twine just to see how strong it will be.

Thanks for that mamaizzy .....is your's made from rope or "stretchy" stuff?

small one is a thick jute (brown rope basically) and the larger one was of nylon climbers style rope.
Handy item to have! Thanks for the info mamaizzy.

Did you knot the strands together, or just tie them?
"We 'Prep.' to live after a downfall, Not just to survive."
knotted them then tied them so there is no slippage whatsoever.
Hello Everyone,
Have been practicing on making homemade pasta. Good luck there --Yummmy. And I attempted bread making ...a bit of a failure there. More practice is definitely required. Need those skills honed before they are needed. In difficult times, morale is greatly increased with good food. Also learned how to get dry wood for a fire on a rainy day.
Will try cargo netting. I am always looking for another skill to add to those I already have. Thanks fo the idea.
