Hello out there,
I'm Tegan, I currently live in Kitchener but can travel where needed.
I'm rather new to the whole prepping scene. I was finding myself overly stressed thinking about prepping but never doing anything.
I have a small food stash and that's about the extent of my work. I would love to talk to or meet up with someone/people who are more advanced then myself.
My boyfriend and I talk about the topic all the time and I would really like some tips and actually start before its too late.
Thank you! Can't wait to talk!
Tegan P.
It may be a bit far to come but a group in the Hamilton area is meeting Oct 7 at 11 am if you are interested.
That's a busy day with Thanksgiving and all. But would love to make it out another time.
I wrote up a post about my first attempt at sealing dried food in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers, that might be of interest to you:
Also, you guys got your PAL's? Having a firearm for hunting and defense is always good for post SHTF....
It's better to prep for something that may never happen than not prep for something that does.

Hey there. I had a look at your work above and it lookes good. I pretty much do the same with one difference. I put in the O2 absorber then seal the end all the way across. Then I punch a 1/8" hole in the bag and use a vacuum cleaner to suck the air out. I then put a small piece of metalic duct tape over the hole to seal it. Works great.

It's ok... 3 of the 11 turned out as I wanted them to with the thing being so tight that you could see the grains of rice thru the mylar.
I have seen a technique that basically you seal it 3/4" of the way, take it out of the bucket on the table, press down to get the rest of the air out and then seal the remaining 1/4 on an angle and that apparently works great, no poking holes required. I'll try it and let you know how it works out.

Yeah, I've been thinking about it. He already has his. (and a couple guns. most recently a Russian SKS) I've been looking at upcoming courses, thinking sooner is better.
The PAL is a possession and acquisition license. Meaning you need one to buy and keep it. You don't need one to shoot a gun. This means you can certainly give your boyfriend some money and he can buy and hold onto something for you until you get your PAL - no waiting necessary. Because if TSHTF no one cares if you have a PAL
