Canadian Bushcraft
134 Paudash St, Keene, Ontario K0L 2G0
a note from Caleb
"A lot of people want to learn how the Natives lived long term on the land. Well this was what we did in the winter. We caught and prepared furs, among many other things.
I often hear people discuss what life "out there" was like. Well here's a chance to truly experience it. No specific class material (other than basic safety), but a lot is going to get taught. This will be happening once each month (check the event page of the Canadian Bushcraft Page), and as we go we'll be dealing with different subjects; clearing trails, setting up the trap sets/cubbies, skinning and processing furs, etc."

The course - event
Harvesting meat and furs from traps has been a method used by humanity since before there were stories. Snares, deadfalls, pit traps and even impalement traps were used by our communal ancestors, while today we benefit from Longsprings and Conibears. This fall and winter, Canadian Bushcraft will be offering monthly treks into a traditional Ojibway trapline. Attendees will participate in preparing and setting traps, baiting sets, and harvesting the animals caught. The life of the trapper will not just be discussed, but experienced by students. Camp will be by a fire in traditional lodges of the First Nations, and many evening events are planned.

The basic course fee has been altered for this one. Usually a 3-day course is $250.00. But we want to see people come out and experience this, for real. So we're going back to our root, with $45/day. Stay for one, or stay for three. Either way, you're going to experience the old Anishnaabeg way of life on the trap line.
