Nobody's gonna argue that having comfort foods, sauces, gravy etc. in the long term storage is good - to fight the diet fatigue, and for the morale in general, right?

For quite some time now, I've been trying to find a place where you can purchase a box of these tiny little mayonnaise packets that you can get in various fast food outlets.
No success, so far.
My thinking is that storing a large (or even a medium-sized) jar is not a very good idea, because mayonnaise has to be refrigerated once opened - and we all know there's no promise of refrigeration is TSHTF. 🙄

Sooo... Any advice on a place that sells such stuff - in the GTA and around - will be greatly appreciated!

P.S. One possible "life hack" would be to go eat often in such fast food places, and pocket several bags each time... The problem is that we don't eat in such places 😎

Most grocery stores have them. Look in their bulk section
Y.I.G has them for sure.

Try looking for restaurant supply companies.
I don't know about the GTA area, but I have come across many of these places.
They are kind of like an oversized grocery store for small restaurants, but open to the public.
A Canada411 search should turn up a few in your area.

Hello khk, I don't know if you have these in Canada, but here in Oregon and I think other states we have what is called "Cash-n-Carry". They are mostly a supplier to restaurant businesses, but the public can shop at them as well. Anyway, they have the mayo, mustard and ketchup, relish packets in bulk. If you have a hard time finding them, let me know I would be happy to arrange to send you this stuff. I don't think it would be illegal to mail it to Canada. On another note, I have been living 100% off grid for the last several months. Decided to bug out now, as society has gotten too crappy for me at this point. So I look for things like this as well and have stockpiled them. I live up in the mountains in Southern Oregon. While out with my sister at one point, we noticed in a restuarant that they had the full sized container of mayo on the tables. I said to her, "I wonder how that is holding up all day without refridgeration." Upon further inspection of the label, in smaller print it was labeled "Restaurant Grade, No Refridgeration required." All other labeling looked identical to the same thing I would buy in the store. This brand happened to be "Best Foods" which is the same as "Helmans" east of the Mississippi. I have not found this anywhere yet for sale, but an inquiry with a restaurant manager may find the answer. anyway, hope this helps you out. Have a Merry Christmas and happy New year up there. fg 419

you would be hard pressed to find packets that are good for more than 1 year

and ingesting turned mayonnaise is only fun for a short time

Mayo is pretty easy to make. With your stored preps and some chickens (for eggs) you could make your own over a longer term as well. I realized this when I made aioli one night for a meal. It's pretty much the above with garlic and lemon juice for the acid. Hollandaise... not so easy.

Don't bother trying to dehydrate mayo - it doesn't work.
