Good morning all, wanted to touch base and say hello. I came to prepping via working towards self-sufficient lifestyle, found the prepper board and have garnered lots of info so far. There are 3 of us at home with 2 adult children living in city. Doing my best to do a little each week to help me feel more secure. Interested in thoughts, issues in general plus specifically prepping tips for families dealing with family members far away and family members with chronic health concerns after SHTF. Nice to meet you all!
welcome aboard, i'm here off and on as time allows. but it nice to be apart of a board that closer to home. i've met many friends in the US from good prepping sites, but it takes hours to get there, and in bad times they are too far away. (although i'll be visiting a number of them this fall) and while i don't have kids, i know many people that have made large plans to get kids home from out of state schools.
it's a lot of work, but i think with good planning and having those "kids" (even adult kids being) on board with the planning that it works a lot better.
i said a lot of the people from this other prepping site were Americans, while that's true i've met a handful of Canadian preppers, and while we all were a good fit and worked well together, one problem we had was we lived a long way off. we knew that having to bug out one another's place was going to be hard no matter what the conditions were, so we planned hard to have the gear, the routes and back up plans. communication along with being able to find each other on the road meant lots of planning. it took a handful of people much smarter then me a while to over come those issues 🙂 but comms, mapping skills, (road mapping skills) and even a way to say "i'm here" without letting every one else know you're on hwy 10 outside of flesherton. but keep working on getting those kids home. i'm big on having family near by . . . (they are usually the ones you can trust most)
as i nurse i deal with chronic issues all the time, doing so at home can be hard work in good times, bad times has some more problems, but i believe with good planning most problems can be dealt with. . . not all, but many.
glad you're here, hope you find what you're looking for
