Right up until you try that with a prepper. Not only will they have the food you seek, they'll also have a plan to defend it and the means to do so. If we fall on serious economic times did you think the government will simply go away in the week or two before your food runs out? You'll just become one of those "threats to civil obedience" that LEO's will focus on.
It would take many months, probably years, before looting will even be an option.
But thanks for letting CSIS know your intentions ahead of time.
