Hi Folks,

Anyone been to this show before and is it worth getting out to? Also anyone on the list thinking of heading there this year? Inquiring minds want to know! If you have been there, do you know if anyone sells Black Powder Gear?

Hey Farmgal,
I was there when I was a kid I think, it was large then and part of the Tractor Pull competitions.
There are two large Black Powder groups in your area, both in somewhat different locations, but both large. Google them. I lost the links.

send a PM to Taz,
I am sure there are a few gunshops in Calgary and Edmonton that will have what he is looking for. Black Powder shooting is huge out there as well.

Ya, he was just at the calgary show, and it is huge and he knows and goes to most show's etc, I was raised going to black powder weekends, its a running joke in the family that when we could fire a certain size black powder rifle and not get knocked on our butts from recoil, we were old enough to get our own 22. In truth I was eight when I started at the local children's gun club and got my 22 shortly there after.

He know's where he can order one but was hoping I might find it for a better price locally, we will see what I can do..

I didn't make it to it last year, but the year before it was pretty good. I'll be there Sat at noon this year. Going with a buddy from Ottawa. For him it's an hours drive.... driving from north end of Durham Region it's a 3.5 hr drive for me.

And I get to hang out with my God-son too. Unfortunetly he has to work this weekend so he can't come too. Going to be an all round good weekend.

Gun show....Lebaron's (need some more cheap ammo) back to my buddy's for a bit... than the rest of the weekend with God-son and his parents.

Have fun on Sunday Farmgirl. Hope you find something interesting

Made it up to the gun show today and I did find a few things interesting, I got the bullet mold for my dad for his one Black Powder Rifle and for a very good price indeed! and then I picked up a interesting self-defence weapon.. I like it, and I can't wait to put some practise in on it..

Wasn't a bad show. Got the parts I needed for my Enfield, got the targets I was looking for. The only thing I debated on was the Remington Nylon 66 Mohawk. $240 was a fair price. But I already have the Apache Black ad the Black Diamond versions, So she stayed for someone else to enjoy

For anyone looking for a 22 semi-auto. I highly recommend the Remington Nylon 66 - 4 versions (colours) with the Seneca (green stock being the hardest to find)

I bought an Apache Black when I was 16 (33 years ago) it's a 14 shot, weighs 4 pound. I shoot it regularly and with bad eye sight I still do 2" groups at 50 yards

As it was my first time, I didn't really have a "thought on if what it would be" for me, I was looking for more things to do in regards to bows, and crossbows, which is was very limited at, maybe they had more on saturday but there was only three with a few things on sunday, I think if anything surprised me was the amount of Air related rifles/pistals, is that common in this area? Sounds like you got about as much as I did, and that we both walked out with only a few things, the couple I went with didn't get anything either.

As I told my friend that i was with (this is only the 2nd gun show he's been at).... You never know what you will find. The least you come away with if more information and knowledge about a specific product.

For me I'm a little more picky, cause I have 5 pistols, 2 revolvers, 4 shotguns, 5 centerfire rifles and 4 22 cal rifles. There's not much more I want or need. The list is down to more fore me a Single Action Army in 45LC, a Sig P226 and a Marlin 1895 SBL in 45/70 gov't. So shows are hit and miss for me as far as guns go and I'm in no real hurry to get the last 3.

When it comes to crossbows, got and old Hornet, which does the job. Got a new limb coming for my Barnet Trident. So all that is left is to find an old Barnet Commando.

Which reminds me got to take my Hornet long bow in and get it looked at, to see if it's dried out too much. Good thing target shoot with a guy that owns a archery shop.

And since there is just me.....I'm already well stocked. So guns shows are just a fun outing. Cause you never know what you'll fnd

I dropped in to the show Saturday morning and by the time I was out there were 4 airport confiscated SAKs bought, a giant shotgun shell lighter for the collection and a great deal on a knife/firesteel combo had. This was the 4th show in Lanark I've attended and the prices were certainly lower than last years on most used 'common' long guns. The thing I noticed was the number of 'tactical' looking customers this year...even saw a couple of Sheepdog patches on .mil looking jackets. The nicest part of the show was the lack of turkey call testers! As to the warclub...I think my prints were on that, so use it in moderation... 😆
