HI there preppers - I am in durham ontario and am interested in talking to/meeting other preppers in my area. I am a herbalist and knowledgeable in wild foods. Just starting to prep so am looking forward to learning a lot from everyone. Anyone else female and single and a little lost when it comes to prepping, security issues, etc.? Thanks all. 🙂

G'day Tribalgem, and welcome. Yes there are quite a few single females here (and me from Australia) who may have the same fears as you do ( I know I'm a little unsure lots of times). Lots to learn from very experienced/skilled people here.

welcome, Not single at this time but was for a good number of years, I also have a interest and knowledge in herbs and wild crafting, turns out I was raised a "prepper" so have a fair amount of skills and I keep adding to that list but I always feel there is more to learn, more to do and yes, at least once a week when I really think a possability though, feel just a little lost.. then shake it off and get working on the things I can..

Hello from Durham Region as well.
Your the person in the area I could learn from. I believe in natural medicines, use some right now and need to learn more on natural foods and foraging.

There are a few people that I know of in Durham, aprox 25 or so who are into Prepping. Thinking on having an outing/meeting this month, it would be beneficial to many to have you come out and show us some wild foods and I am going to show some improvised stoves and cooking methods as well as another topic. Maybe we can get Anita to come out as well and the other few single females as well so you can all gang up and poke fun at the guys! 🙂

Use the search feature for specific answers to questions, and post the other questions here and we can see what we can do to help out.
If the issues are at your house or you live in an apartment, there are different answers to each of those scenarios.
If the questions are related to your location then I can answer some of those and others will pipe in as well.
Cheers and welcome WildE

Tribalgem, Greeting and salutations. Believe it or not, I have always been interested in wild edibles, (tried a few on my mum, she thought that I was bonkers for eating weeds.) It wasn’t until I started reading “Clan of the Cave bear” that I really started getting interested in herb lore and natural medicine. If I was involve with apost SHTF community, a Herbalist would be one of the top people wanted.

As you may have guessed Tribalgem, anyone with a knowledge of herbal and natural healing is going to get an enthusiastic reaction from any prepper community. Your kind of knowledge will be vital in any post SHTF situation. Welcome to the forums, we'll probably pick your brain as much as you pick ours.

Hi Tribalgem. I'm south of you but considering a move up to your neck of the woods in a few years. I think there are a lot of people here who would be interested in what you have to say about wild food, myself included.

Wilde, I think she's in Durham, not Durham Region, but I may be mistaken.

Hi Tribalgem,

I am new to the forum and in S. Ont. Being a single female, I say network and get to know others who can help you as security comes in groups. A little self-defense helps too.

Yes please - I need someone to tell which of the weeds I can eat 🙂 I have some knowledge but I would like to have someone SHOW me. I don't have a sense of smell so that is one less way to make a determination about what it is. I grow lots of weeds - absolutely not on purpose - in the middle of every garden and the yard - sigh. it's a terrific beautiful mess.
