Interesting post. During my time in the army I did three tours in the Balkins, Croatia in'94, Bosnia in '97 and Kosovo in 2000. I saw how bad it was for them. My first time there I was shocked at the devastation. There was a lot of brutality and corruption, but there were many people who worked hard with their neighbours to get by.
What I saw in the Balkins could easily happen in North America. The fellow on that site survived in a city (I think I can guess which one, I've been there), but living in the country was just as bad. I would recommend that site to any prepper, in fact, I think it should be posted in other forums too.

I agree it should be posted in other forums ,seems to be a little bit of fighting in some forums ,it might be a waker-upper to what has happend, and what is happening in other countries in this world ,some on here just dont seem to get it, we arent that far away to something like this happing here ...just takse one wrong move in this world and WW 111 is upon us .logger1
Good post. It really makes you think and in my case shows me some weaknesses that need to be addressed. IMO So many of us (myself included at times) live in a bit of a fantasy world when it comes to planning and what SHTF will look like - so stories like this and Ferfal's blog http://ferfal.blogspot.com/ I find help ground me a bit more in reality.
What I find difficult is SHTF can take so many forms and degrees.
